Hi Guys

I had an accident in my car this morning, any ideas what it's worth to break or to sell as is?

2003 WRX, Very very good pre accident condition.

Just fix it looks all cosmetic from the pics

YODI 08 July 2015 01:43 PM

Thanks but not what I'm asking, it's going through insurance and they are writing it off. The front panel corner is damaged too

Dubzy 08 July 2015 02:24 PM

Sorry to hear your news buddy, im not sure of the exact value to sell on as this would be subjective because of the write off status.. If you have the option to buy it back for say less than 2k then there should be some money to be made.

YODI 08 July 2015 02:26 PM

Cheers mate, properly gutted but it happens and am already looking for its replacement as I need a car.

I was mainly wondering to see how well/poor they break, I know the STI's break well but not sure on the WRX

Dubzy 08 July 2015 02:33 PM

If time and available space are limited then may not be the best car to break yourself. All the nice bits will obviously sell quick then u may have to sit on an unrolling shell for some time.
Give Matty a call at mb developments he should be able to give you an idea of what its worth as it is.

YODI 08 July 2015 02:36 PM

He only busts STI's mate...

Any idea of engine value?

Dubzy 08 July 2015 02:41 PM

prices seem to vary quite heavily as ive seen some go for between £400 - £800 on the facebook pages recently, seems to be lots of them for sale at present and gearbox's too.

Ash 08 July 2015 03:30 PM

Sad news mate really sorry to hear that was in lovely condition.

WokaImp 08 July 2015 03:36 PM

Did the insurance company say why it's a write off?
Looks like minor bumper and light damage...or am I missing something?
How hard was the impact?

If I did that to my bumper I'd be a little cheesed off if it was a write off.
Hopefully I won't be in this situation as I've never had a crash, bump or even hit a curb in 20 years....although freak accidents even happen to the best of us.

YODI 08 July 2015 03:40 PM

It needs a wing, headlight, bonnet, bumper, fog light, fog light surround, fog light bracket & wiring and the front panel is bent behind the bumper.

Insurance companies use new prices, so add all that lot up and then labour and paint and I'd bet its more than the car hence the write off.

Gutted for you :( was a really tidy looking motor.

hardcoreimpreza 08 July 2015 04:28 PM

I would say it would be worth buying back, but sell on as complete car, you will get less in bits unless its heavily modified. Gota be worth £1000-£1500 as it stands. If you can buy it back for £500 your sorted.

Or buy it back and fix it.

south_scoob 08 July 2015 05:34 PM

ALWAYS buy back and always try and haggle. Insurance companys dont want thousands of crashed motors and scrapping them they loose out more

ScottyPPP 09 July 2015 03:04 PM

Unlucky mate.

Fancy selling me some more alloys?

bioforger 09 July 2015 03:16 PM

Same here, I would buy back and get it fixed. All the panels n parts can be picked up relatively cheaply, leaving the expense left in the bodywork/paint.

Depends on how much you want to keep running the car I guess.

YODI 09 July 2015 04:24 PM

Alloys are for sale :)

Ash 09 July 2015 04:38 PM

How Much Mate?

The Trooper 1815 09 July 2015 04:52 PM

You have PM.

ScottyPPP 09 July 2015 05:14 PM

Looks like I've missed out already lol

Indeed it is, the bug has gone to a new home and I'm sure it will be well looked after.
