Purchase

Hi all, after 5 years with german cars I'm looking to buy another scooby, nothing special but as I haven't had one for a few years I thought I'd ask what to look for problems wise.Currently I'm looking at an 03 wagon WRX,very clean with verified low mileage and history,a lady owner for 11 years and then the current seller for 1 year with a long mot.The apparent issue is it has a leaky injector..supposedly common due to the o-ring construction material, which is making it run poor, backfiring and not reving too cleanly. Is this correct and is there anything else to look for?Any advice appreciated..thanks.

I`m sure those could be symptoms of many things. It sounds a little like the owner of one year perhaps bought a tidy car, then wasn't able to maintain it ? Get them to sort it first. Look very closely at the rear window seal where it meets the metal of the tailgate; my 05 wagon is showing signs of rust stain there. A great practical A to B er, even better with a stage 1 upgrade.

unless the price is rock bottom aka £1000 i wouldn't bother, could be anything from injector seal to fried valve, the latter beeing ££££'s to repair

The question you need to ask is, if its nothing big why hasn't the owner had it sorted out?

My thoughts exactly..first things to do on a scooby..de-cat pipe and re-map...I never got to drive it but as a passenger it didn't feel right..
I'm sure if someone does their owner servicing they can swap over an injector..:norty:
Cheers for the advice...you know when something doesn't feel right and the price drops with every text...plenty more to see...
