P1 Suspension

Hi Everyone,

I'm from Sri Lanka, and we have a 2000 JDM STI. My friend and I are interested in getting the P1 suspension setup since we have heard so much good things about it. As our roads are very similar to the UK roads. I cant seem to be able to find a vendor or the parts numbers we need to purchase the strut and spring. It will be great if guys can lead us in the right direction so we can get these purchased.

Thank you

Max

You can no longer buy P1 springs new, but check out the group buy on here where 2pot has arranged brand-new springs made by Eibach to similar specs.

The OE dampers are available new from Subaru but they are expensive. You could consider as an alternative KYB AGX or Ultra SR dampers which will match the P1 spring rates and will be cheaper than the OEM items from Subaru.

Thank you Plenty. I guess at this point the Padders suspension kit looks like a good alternative. I guess I can try their spring and stut combo.

If I want to go with KYB AGX or Ultra SR dampers, where can I find them?

KYB products are available from eBay from a number of sellers who will ship internationally. I've had two sets of AGX from a seller in Poland called "carfit" on eBay.

I have not tried Pedders nor have I seen any detailed reviews of their products, but the P1 spring (via 2pot) + AGX combo is a truly excellent setup. Don't forget you'll need new bump stops as well.

Hasn't your jdm 2000 sti already got the red kyb inverted dampers? They're the same part as the P1 damper. Your springs are 236lb/in front 195lb/in rear.
New v5/v6 and P1 dampers are £1000 a set.

If your dampers are worn out?
You could also use kyb excel-g dampers. They are the same as kyb agx on setting 2 front and setting 4 rear.
https://www.camskill.co.uk/order.php

But, you would need a matching bump stop kit.

£235 springs 194lb/in 157lb/in
£50 matching bump stops
£85 delivery to Sri Lanka

if you decide to replace your suspension i would be interested in buying the sti setup you currently have depending on condition and mileage of them

Thank you 2pot,

I will ask my friend and see. The problem is when we got our STI it came with coilovers from the previous owner. That's why we are thinking of going with a standard setup as its too harsh for the roads here.

We are thinking about going with Koni Yellows. Are these same as the KYBs? My friend wants some adjustability with his dampers for weekend track days. I would imagine these springs would go well with it? My friend is on a budget so if he's ok with all the costs I will hit you a PM. Thank you again for all your advice.

Koni's are nice, but they're inserts. You'll have to find and cut standard Impreza strut housings to fit them in. Koni's will match P11L springs.

Kyb excel-g are also match for the P11L springs. You can use P11L springs with kyb AGX, but there's no performance advantage.

If you friend is serious about track days then the WR15R/T spring set is for smooth, flat roads and track days - needs koni's or agx (setting 3 front, 5 rear)

200lb/in rear

£290 delivered

£1255 delivered with a new set of v5/v6 sti struts

I wish I could get new sti struts , would the agx be the next best thing

2pot 05 July 2015 09:13 PM

£340 delivered for wr15r/t and bump stop/dust boot kit for agx's.

As long as the springs match, one of the few adjustments on the AGX's, which the wr15's intentionally do (3 front, 5 rear), they're actually very good.

Out of interest, what's your measurement, from wheel centre, front and rear, vertically up to the arch?
