What's a decent set of earbuds?

As per title, really.

Still listening to mine via some Sony ones with a head-band, came with an early cd walkman.

alcazar 16 June 2015 05:27 PM

Phew...cancel that, not paying £100 for a set.......

I have these.

£40 and seem popular.

Littleted 16 June 2015 10:30 PM

Any of the MDR EX range from Sony alka, I run the MDR EX1000 but the lower model are very good.....

Scooby-Mark 17 June 2015 12:43 AM

I've had the sony ones in the past too, great headphones.
Found the rubber stripped off the wires quite easily once wrapped around iPod and in coat pocket.

Picked up a pair of ibeats br Dre for £25 off eBay ideal cost for a very impressive pair of earphones that I don't have to worry about them lasting over a season of traveling to and from football games, one season done and as good as new.

jonc 17 June 2015 08:54 PM

I recommend a pair of Klipsch Image S4. Awesome sounding, great mid range and punchy bass. I've had mine for around 5 years now for my commute and still sound great and blocks out the background noise very well. :thumb:

stormyuklondon1 18 June 2015 02:51 PM

My money would (and did!) go on a set of shure se215. Great earphone imo.

alcazar 18 June 2015 04:53 PM

Shure? as in the famous American cartridge manufacturer? Not heard of them for some years.

I looked at those Klipsch ones, £70 for balck, £35 for white?????:cuckoo:

SE215: £70:(

jonc 18 June 2015 09:12 PM

It's difficult to test earbuds in the shops, so you can only go by reviews and go by recommendations on what type of sound you prefer, ie, biased for either bass, mid-range or clear detailed highs, and the type of music you listen to.

Don't really fancy used ones, plus with some of the reviews I've read on ALL types, a decent guarantee is worthwhile.

alcazar 19 June 2015 10:38 AM

Wireless ones? Hadn't thought of that. My phone has nfc.

I just use this with whatever phones i fancy using.

Trouble is you're asking for decent phones, when most are decent it's the sound is what you're really after which can be tricky.

Samsung HS3000 Bluetooth Stereo Headset - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

good recommendation, anither option- this is a wee bit cheaper, comes with some earbuds and will work with other earphones..

A bit of a steal at under 17 quid!

alcazar 19 June 2015 06:02 PM

Sadly, I've got into the habit of reading the WORST reviews when I look at stuff.
This product doesn't make good reading: http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-revi...owViewpoints=0

It also makes it VERY difficult to buy anything.........

I think I'll probably go for some decent Sony ones, since the phone is a Sony, something with a remote and a case might be nice.

dpb 19 June 2015 06:11 PM

People can't help exaggerated reviews , and people get paid as well

So you need go in between imo

Pairing with the sony's is meant to be iffy, plus it doesn't support atpx my buds would pick out the difference a mile away, the streaming time is mean to be a lot less than advertised, i get a good consistent 9-10 hours but with the sony you'll be lucky to see 3-4 hours.
Plus i have a three mode sound button, useful as some songs lack punch, whilst on others it can be too much.

The samsung can be had for £30 if you nose around, i was tempted by the sony until i looked further into it.

alcazar 19 June 2015 08:30 PM

Samsung though? I've just dumped them for phones, crashy, sticky crap.

Turbovin 20 June 2015 02:43 PM

I think the Soundmagic E10 are the best I've used so far. I work in an engine assembly factory so I usually go through a set every year or so so I don't want to spend too much money. They are top rated among other buyers and tests here in Sweden too.

alcazar 20 June 2015 05:29 PM

There's an engine factory in Sweden???????

Joking apart, thanks for that recommendation, will look at those, depending on ££

Turbovin 20 June 2015 07:59 PM

Haha yes at least 3 of them :) The 13l straight six engines I'm building are as big as half a scooby though :D

For the money they're great IMO. I have not tried the more expensive version with the "remote" button though but I would think they should sound similar.

Luvin my Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear

dpb 23 June 2015 09:26 AM

Don't know if this could be useful link

alcazar 23 June 2015 12:11 PM

Thanks, I've gone for some Sony EXR110's...not that good, but an upgrade on my old ones and can control my phone from them. £14.99.......last of the big spenders!

I decided that a) £40+ on phones I couldn't try out first was daft, and b) they won't get enough use to merit that spend:D

Bit late to the conversation, but have a look over the earbuds on this page: http://thewirecutter.com/leaderboard/headphones/
