AP 6 pot brakes on 18" wheels

As above i have a type r with ap 6 pots and 356mm discs. I would like to down size my wheels to 17's as i do not like the ride on the 18's. Has anyone got any experience with this setup and is there any 17" wheels that will accommodate my brakes. Thanks.

You will struggle to get some off the shelf wheels to clear that setup, I think compomotive do some low offset 17s that may clear the brakes but then you will arch issues

I'm sure someone was running 17" team dynamic pro race 1.2's with 356mm discs.

I am already having arch issues but i will hopefully sort that out after i have done the brakes.

Hi there

Really depends, but usually you will need to run lower offset 17" wheels for 356mm AP/K-Sport or D2

We are tried ET28 or ET20 on our wagon and they're cleared nicely 356mm discs and yes Team Dynamics should clear, but on those too you need to run lower offset than usual

Hope this helps

Thanks,Jura

I had the same problem with my classic but having the even larger porsche brake setup.

To get over it i had the rear arches cut and now use 225/40/18 tyres. Went for the XL Pilot Sports and it's 100% better.

Before anyone shouts the speedo will be wrong i was concerned of this however i'm lucky enough to have a few warning speed signs near me. I've been through them at various speeds and they're sign matches the speedo.

Theres very little difference between 17 and 18 inch ride comfort less so then any other size gap in my experience

Yeah. I supose if your on coilovers it would make a bigger difference as the sidewall takes up more compared to the shocks

even lowering springs would make a difference, 17' all the way on a classic
