Classic Japanese Car Insurance

Had a bit of a confusing conversation with Keith Michaels about their Classic Car Insurance for Japanese Cars 15 years or older.

This is on the website:-

The great big picture of the Impreza P1 looked really promising for finally getting my Impreza insured under a classic policy.

First of all they didn't seem to believe that they offered such cover, then advised that they only cover things like MX5s etc. Imprezas aren't covered by this kind of policy, even if on very limited miles as a 2nd car.

Phoned one of the bigger name specialists and covered no problem with a mirrored NCB, so I can use my NCB on my main car rather than lumping it on the Impreza to get a sane quote.

Hi,
Please feel to give us a try for insurance if you like. We have schemes that can cater for Japanese imported vehicles on classic terms.
Regards,
Dan.

I tried them (KM) and got much the same response. I use RH Insurance for my "classic" cars, they don't ask about NCB and are extremely cheap on restricted mileage policies, do agreed value, include Euro breakdown etc etc. My UK and current JDM turbo Imprezas cost me around £200 pa, MX-5s and MR2s around £120.

That's a fantastic example of a marketing cock-up. Obvious lack of communication within the company.

I don't know what the big fuss is about this lot they have never been competitive quoting on my car, not even close.

It's not a classic policy as such, more of a future classic policy.

It is very similar to a classic policy, with very large discounts for limited mileage and if the vehicle is a second car. Agreed value is sometimes available aswell.

Although these schemes aren't quite as cheap as a traditional classic policy, they have more benefits (you can earn NCB, have the driving other car extension etc)

If you need a quote feel free to pm me your details, or ring me on 0208 3291167
