2005 blobeye wrx map advice
Hi all,
Hopefully getting my hands on a stainless Catback system with 4.5'' jap tail. Also looking to buy a hks/green/k&n panel filter. In the near future I'll be looking at booking the car in for a remap. Is there anything else you guys suggest I do prior to this and what sort of power increase can I expect? Car is standard 225bhp at the moment. Thanks Jack |
Jack,
You would probably be looking to carry out a stage 1 upgrade which would get you around 260-280 bhp Full Decat or Sportscat exhaust from turbo back 2.5" Walbro 255 l/hr uprated fuel pump K+N panel filter Remap (OpenSource or Ecutek) |
Thanks for the reply. Is a sportscat/decat absolutely necessary? I have a cat back system currently. (Non resonated centre and backbox).
|
Not necessary but will limit you to around 250-260bhp.
Cheapest way to get a sportscat would be to pickup a second hand prodrive cat, for around £130. These are 200cell so will still pass an MOT. The 100cell units are a bit hit and miss. A decent mapper like Bob Rawle or Andy Carr would help you achieve the best figures you can based on any mods. |
Also look to get an STI up pipe on there, which removes another cat, and the risk of it failing, then disintegrating and lunching your turbo. They only cost about £30 used :) worth putting on.
|
As above decat up pipe will help along with a decat centre pipe. Avoid cheap up pipes tho off ebay. A newage sti up pipe or even one off a classic is what you need.
|
+1 for replacing the uppipe cat, also I would say fuel pump should definitely be on your shopping list too.
Follow the path and you can't go wrong: http://andyforrestperformance.co.uk/58901.html |
Thanks mate, got my 3'' turbo back decat in the post! Now just filter and fuel pump then it's map time 😎
|
Set of grade 7 plugs might be worth considering too :) PFR7B's.
|
What benefit will the plugs have?
|
the grade 7 plugs will help you increase timing at high RPM/higher boost levels as they will stay cooler for you.
|
Ah I see, thanks mate I'll add them to the shopping list 👍

What would that list cost to buy and have done?

to start from a standard car you should be lookin to spend in the region of:
decat uppipe - £30-£100 sportscat downpipe - £100-£250 NGK grade 7 plugs £30-£45 Panel Filter £10-£35 Snorkus Delete - Free High flow fuel pump £100-£200 boost gauge - £10-£100 All could be fitted the same day but you'll have to shop around as hourly rates will differ between garages. you might get a discount if you go somewhere that can supply the parts too. |

just to let a bit more growl out of the panel filter. most folk i find stick the ebay induction kit in for the growl but the snorkus delete/bypass gives you some of that without the hassles of rescaling the MAF table.
Open the wing, remove the big airbox and the elbow, cut the airbox off and cut a big circle out of the airbox and use it to plug the new hole in the elbow (15 mins with a solding iron and a hot knife attachment to paste it on). Air continues to be drawn in from the front scoop and goes straight into the main air filter box. Plus when you stamp on the pedal instead of sucking air from the reservoir box in the wing you get the snarl from the new filter instead. |
