stiffer but not lower
Hi all, after a bit of advice, I am looking at doing a few track days, but also need to use my car fairly often for running around in, its a my00 turbo 2000, on standard suspension.
I would like the suspension to be a little stiffer for track use, but all the sports springs etc for sale I can see, seem to be lowering springs, and I am more than happy with the ride height where it is, as I have no issue with speed bumps etc round town. Would strut braces stop the roll in corners to an extent, or am I going to have to go for a coilover option? Looking for a cost effective way to give a little more stiffness on the track. |
Key question: how much has your existing suspension sagged in 15 years?
What's the distance between the wheel centre, vertically up to the arch? |
The most cost effective way to stiffen your car up would be to uprate your anti roll bars, it won't be that much harder for road use, but a lot less roll in the corners.

I should have some uprated springs for sale next month not lowering springs but lot firmer than standard

If your suspension is 15 years old I can't imagen your dampers are as firm as they was when new. Maybe a set of fresh dampers and bumpstops would help without lowering your car.

thanks for all the comments everyone, I think I will have a look into some uprated anti roll bars, anyone know which type would be best, should I just go for some sti ones, were they stiffer than mine out of the factory?

The Impreza P1 lapped mira at157mph - 19mm front bar, 20mm rear bar - you should already have those bar sizes.
What are your wheel centre to arch measurements? |

Hi all my wheel arch to centre wheel measurements are 355mm front and 335mm rear. Anyone know what they should be?

You could put on stiffer springs, but, not on your standard dampers. As they would not be able to control stiffer springs. HTH |

Rear suspension has most effect on handling. I would suggest swapping your rear anti roll bar for a stiffer/thicker one and then taking the car for a drive to see how you like it.

We do 2 different dampers. Our black ones, which can be used as a replacement for stock, and our Red Sportsryder ones which are a performance item. However, even the black ones are valved different from stock. They are not "an equivalent" to anything specifically. The valving is designed and specified by our R&D guys in Australia. You wont be surprised to know that i wont be posting the dyno charts for these.
