changing from paddle clutch to organic type......new flywheel??

now im back in love with my car i need to get rid of the wanky paddle clutch in it,its an exedy 6 paddle clutch and it was fitted with a rcm lightweight flywheel

will i need a new flywheel when i change to the competition clutch or not? or will i not know until i remove it?

Anybody?

Check flywheel for condition depending on clutch wear you most probably might just need a slight skim resurface before fitting the new clutch if the previous clutch was worn bad.SJ.

Clutch bites fine (a bit to fine hence me changing) but it does judder if you don't get the revs correct

Should be ok as long as the flywheel doesn't have too many high spots. You will have to look at it once it's out

Sounds like it definitely could do with a resurface if it judders as that usually points towards uneven flywheel or hotspots indentations on the surface of the flywheel,i know quite alot of people don't resurface the flywheel but when i was doing my engineering course we was always taught to check and then resurface the flywheel to give the new clutch a good base to start from as if the flywheel is not 100% it can cause juddering on a new clutch.SJ.

Any idea where I can get it done and rough cost?

You still near leicester way mate? I am pretty sure RCM should be able to do it as should any motor engineering or clutch specialist with a dedicated machine shop, should be able to offer the service.SJ.

you going for the stage 2 competition clutch?, I think they say a new or skimmed flywheel is needed for the warranty to be valid

if its been used with a paddle it will almost certainly have scorching and isolated wear marks caused by the puck........
