WRX 4 Pots with CL RC5+
 

Anyone used this brake set up? Any feedback?


Just bought my blobeye and the brakes are fine round town but after a good drive the pads give loads of fade (godspeed discs & kevlar pads).

So going to put some fresh ate super blue in and change the pads. I normally use ebc yellows as i find them great for fast road and light track use (all in lighter cars), however after checking reviews on here they dont get the best reviews so fancy some RC5+. Im off to the ring next month so will be a good test round there (i would love some brembo/k sport, but too much money when i factor in buying new wheels too).

proper brake upgrade, AP's etc are a better option.

I know but when im into 2k+ by time i buy wheels....

Check with ian, but pretty sure they will go under the standard wrx 17's, there alot more forgiving on offset than brembo's

I have this setup on my classic along with braided lines and it's not bad. Probably about as good as the 4-pots get. I did 2,000 miles around Europe including up and down the Pyrenees and Alps and they coped well.

Not sure how they would fare on a heavier newage though. On a GD car I personally would go to Brembos and find a set of STi wheels - the whole setup should come in under £1k.

Ap's are what, £1250 for the kit? SO for £250 yuou get a big step up on event he brembo's

Track use, consider weight & power of your car, track character. Ring has considerable drops to tight curves and a reputation for killing brakes. A PPP WRX on std brakes will cook them half way round (have the T shirt) Brembo's you can pick up second hand and are good advice from Plenty on the Classic, but even they will be struggling with 200kg more and if you have a WRX mapped to 300bhp you will still be killing them after 1 Lap (seen it happen). What seems to work is larger disks with Ferrodo 2500 ( I have Ians big brake conversion 335mm on 17 inch ) but you will have to put up with squealing on slotted disks, so I swap the pads at track. Four pots will still manage to put enough grunt in , APs/Alcon are wonderful if you afford 2k fine giving decent thickness and diameter disk. a twin hat disk type is useful it helps keep the heat out of the wheel bearings. To balance F/R split you will have to increase the rear diameter, do it with a set of adapters to retain the 2 pot WRX to get 316mm on Subaru pn 26625AE000x2 26700AE04A x2 or http://www.fastwrx.com/collections/b...-kit-02-05-wrx this lot will still cost 1 k on std pots:)

I'm going to be running the CL RC5+ in my WRX as soon as they arrive (the current stock (?) pads feel like they're made of Angel Delight), but this is only for a road car. If I was to head out on track, I'd want a BBK and probably Carbotechs (XP8 and above), I find the DS2500s in my other car too soft.
