impreza virgin

Hay all,

Just joined as looking for a impreza 05/55 wrx/sti have around 7.5k to spend so want the best spec I can.
So just wanting opinions/suggestions ect. I don't want to join the 300 club....yet but was looking at the sti as it has a standard good power output.
Is the box/diff/internals better built than the wrx?
I've never owned a turbo car I must add I currently have a 320i m-sport what I'd be looking to sell or trade in to make most of funds. Also have my project of 7 years it's a pug1off built 206 gti tuned N/A engine so I've done my fair share of tune ups in the past so looking for a Daily drive what has some punch and of course is going to be reliable.

Thanks in advance guys.

Can't beat a bit of banter lol, anyways just had a quote for flux.... £2000 I actually lol'd down the phone managed to get one at £420 so happy with that.
Cars I'm going to look at are wrx 300, standard wrx and a sti all around the 50k on the clock fingers crossed.

dont waste your time with a wrx if you can afford an sti.

It's funny how it's always the most illiterate people who mock others' poor literacy. The irony!

Back to my op are the engine internals uprated at all? Or is it just more power from standard?

completely different car, yes the internal are better they will take 450 bhp in standard form, also have avcs (variable valve timing)
the turbo is also different, along with a much better stronger six speed gearbox and brembo brakes.

Hi,
I'm surprised we seem to be so up-competitive for you. Is there any chance you could PM your details so I can take a look at it to see why?
Regards,
Dan.

I'll be in touch mate as I've had some even cheaper quotes as I've been with you guys for over 8 years and come up with a £2000+ quote I'm a bit miffed.

If your not looking to go down the tuning route I'd go for the wrx 300. Same power as standard sti but lighter car, this doesn't go down well but it will be the quicker car up to 70.
If planning tuning or track days get an sti.

Usual sti envy...
The sti is the far superior car with much stronger parts, the wrx is slightly faster too 60 due to long gear ratios in the 5 speeder.
You need an extra change in.the sti

No envy just facts to help in the decision on which model would suit the op .

I still think he would be quite disappointed to be left at the lights by a blue seated wrx that was 3 grand cheaper.

its 3 grand cheaper for a good reason ;)
but why on earth anyone would buy a wrx 300 in the first place is beyond me as its a wrx with blue seats youre paying a premium to own.

a normal wrx would be a far better buy,

Well you do get free ppp with the blue seats.
If he wants to pay more for the slower car up to the legal speed limit i have no problem, that's total fine.

but he will have the issue of paying over the odds for a poor limited edition wrx.

I cant believe these arguments still go on and on.. Dont you lot get tired of your own s***? :lol1:

R1CH202 17 May 2015 11:11 PM

I am looking at both sides of the coin a wrx with all the trick bits (cheaper option) or a standard sti (more expensive) I do want to keep it standard..ish for now due to keeping the insurance down for the 1st year to get used to the car and get experience.

There are no trick bits on a wrx 300, it's just a boggo wrx with blue seats,no mechanical differences

Shaunby 300 17 May 2015 11:18 PM

It's a wrx with ppp, gold alloys and slightly nicer interior over standard wrx.

Exactly a mechanically standard wrx with blue seats
