Which pads?
Hi iv got a wr1 with the brembos all round.
I bought some godspeed grooved discs and their kevlar pads. I dont seem to be getting on well with the pads. Stopping power seems to be poor, alot of brake fade when you get them hot, and they dont seem to be even eating the disc at all. Also squeek like hell when you come to a stop! What pads do people recommend? Im going to do the odd trackday and i like to drive fast occasionly. Thanks in advance! |
Performance Friction

How much and where from?

I had brembo sport and pagid disks on my wr1 then took them off after 500 miles because they were turd, spoke to alyn at as performance and he recommended some grooved disks (unsure of brand but we're about £130) and performance friction pads, miles better than before and under £300 delived

If your after a good performing pad then the RC5+ pads are very good for the money , the kevlar pads are basically the first step up from standard so a hard driver on the road can fade them , we only recommend them for day to day drivers with some spirited driving now and again.
Your discs will take any abuse you want to throw at them so won't need changing , CL RC5+ pads are £135 plus P&P , you will not find a better pad for the money Cheers Ian |
Ferrodo DS2500 are a good pad

Pricy
Poor cold Noisy Huge dust Otherwise fine :-) PF win hands down |
Has anyone got a link to performance friction to fit my blob sti wr1
Thanks |

RC5+ is what i'd recommend, best pad i used on my blobeye hands down. Very nice to drive on the road day to day but could take huge abuse on a track day without a hint of fade.

Yes we sell both and the RC5+ are very good and very resonably priced concidering the performance they offer
|
Pagid RS15 without any doubt, expensive but when you have tried them you wouldnt fit anything else bit like winter tyres.

Much dust from them? |
RC5+ and Pagid RS15 are both quality pads, but for me performance friction pads are top top draw.I find that the more track based pad's equals more noise dust etc...it's a trade off that you really have to just except for the extra performance, but saying that i personally feel that the compound that performance friction use are spot on.SJ.

Much dust from them? Didn't find any problems with dust but not a daily so gets a clean before going back in garage usually. |
Performance Friction Z compound, best pad for Brembo's Alyn at AS Performance has them on the shelf. Use these on my Road Blob and until recently used them on my race RA

How much are we talking

I have only tried RS 4-2-1 black and have been very impressed with them even on trackdays. The RS15 have a higher friction coefficient than the 4-2-1 in both cold and hot conditions. Not cheap but quality costs. I've also used EBC Bluestuff but wasn't satisfied at all. DS2500 in a 205 GTi were good but noisy when cold and can catch you out sometimes with their cold performance. They last well on track though but eat discs. |
Itll mainly just be normal everyday driving and fast road braking. I just hate fade and break squeal when coming to a stop
|
The Z compond Performance Friction pads don't produce much in the way of dust and don't squeel. They work very very well from cold and are very reasonably priced. I have Pagid RST3 on the race RA but don't need anything as expensive or aggressive on the road car hence staying with the PF ones.
|
DS2500 are not brilliant there are do far better pads out there now.
|
What about fade when under heavy braking from fast road on the PF? Do they eat discs?
These kevlars cant be harsh enough because there isnt even a tiny lip! |
im looking at PF Z's too, ive asked ASPerformance if they would consider a group buy and they have said they would but they need to look at the numbers first
|
Ill have some if theres a group buy going. I want then within the next month really
|
im awaiting a reply from ASPerformance
|
If you are contacting Alyn at AS Performance you are better phoning he isn't on the forums that much.
|
Ive been emailing them mate
