Alarm Upgrade worth it?

Hi guys

Just picked up the STI over the weekend, really happy with it. My question is this. My insurance company hasn't insisted on a Tracker so I won't bother with one of those. They are even happy with the Subaru security and I do not need to get a fancy alarm. However, I do not want the car to get knicked so I was thinking would it be worth forking out around £500 for a Viper or Clifford alarm system to upgrade what the car already has fitted as standard? Or should I not bother and if it does get stolen just claim of the insurance and get something else? £500 is a lot of money, especially since my insurer isn't too bothered.

I was looking at the flagship Clifford or Viper systems. Or I could spend that money on a stereo upgrade, I have seen a double din satnav system for around the same price so can't decide.

er..... It's up to you.

Personally I went for the best alarm/security system I could afford, for my own peace of mind.

Always woRth it IMO,Trouble is. thieves get t know a standard cars sec system. Look at all the Frd RS going missing lately . 30 secondsto nick a car , without keys needed, is a disgrace these days . Personally id have a Clifford. Great systems with loads of features.

Oh, and a Disklock for £70 to start off with

Personaly just get a cut of switch fitted somewhere plus good alarm system and unless there planning on spending a good amount of time on steeling it then i'm sure it won't be going anywhere.

As above... Disklock

Alarm over stereo any day, it's a subaru why do you want a stereo!

No one really responds to alarms. Immobilisers are good but as said, a hidden cut-off switch works just as well. However, do really want someone breaking into your car and trashing the dash/wiring trying to get it started? A deterrent is better, such as a Disklock. Or removable steering wheel.
