Advice on buying injectors?
Hi guys new to the forum going to get a readers ride up soon but on another note, just got an intercooler and a getting a td05-18g soon and needing bigger injectors problem is they are like hens teeth to buy can anyone point me in the right direction? My tuner says 740cc - 850cc.
Car in question is a 2003 Bug sti Thanks, |
your 550 pinks will do the job if you knock the fuel pressure up a touch, more than ample for the 18g. If your busting for more then DW or bosch 650's you can get direct or from ebay - check the for sales on here they are more like chicken wings than hens teeth :)

Yep what Bludgod said.....No need to fork out on new expensive injectors at that level, a fuel pressure regulator (fpr) will give you some headroom and is much cheaper and easier to fit than having to remove them dam green brackets of death that protect the injector rails so win win :thumb:

Got a walbro 225 fuel pump too, my tuners pretty insistent on new injectors looking to get realistically 380 bhp. Any suggestions on a fpr?

Fuel lab if expense is no issue or sytec will do the same job for less money. You can run a 20g on sti pinks with a frp so your smaller 18g will be fine.
This is from Andy Forrest's Tuning guide on his website, Visit his page as theres lots of useful info on there.. Thanks for all the info guys I've from the vw scene so not too clued up on scoobys !
|
that being said, FPR would be my personal choice at that level - if your tuner is saying bigger injectors then they may have a reason behind it so it's worth checking out if they'd be happy to tune the FPR instead of bigger injectors.

Yeah think I might go downt that route thanks for the info guys

No doubt mate but i know where i would be taking mine if it was me, people travel the length of the country for his skills. I would ask why such big injectors 740cc are required as they are for set ups running 480+ bhp. If your car needs that size injectors for an 18g then there are gremlins at work..
|
well if bigger turbo is in the pipeline then that would make sense. To note im running 480bhp on 650cc injectors with no fpr and they are not maxed out neither..
|
Okay thanks I was thinking 650cc was good for max 400hp obviously wrong - just bought a fpr along with plugs
|
That will do the job mate, save your money for when you get a bigger turbo :thumb:
|
Yeah will do just mate think the scoob will be good fun around the 360-370 hp mark couldn't imagine 450hp!

Hi there
On 18G you shouldn't need 740cc injectors,I would say 650cc should be just OK,but as above good FPR will be good investment,I would go with Fuelab, they're best We run on 740cc injectors at 2.5bar 490bhp plus NOS and our IDC on injectors has been close to 88%,but we are run 340LPH in tank HRC fuel pump and 1L Swirl pot with 044 Hope this helps Thanks,Jura |
