Cost of replacing syncros on 6 speed?

Getting the dreaded crunch shifting up to 5th at high revs. Box s from STI7 so could probably do with a refresh anyway.

Any ideas on cost of drive in drive out?

I'd like to upgrade to carbon syncros/shifters or whatever they're called. :D

Give Rob (the transmission specialist) at API a ring and he will talk you through it and give you a quote on it.

Ps, it's Carbon Baulk rings you are thinking about.

I had my 6 speed rebuilt by Rob at API around a month ago. In all honesty they won't be able to tell you until the box is stripped and inspected. My box was only nipping between 4th/5th and when stripped it needed more parts than I thought it would. Third gear although wasn't showing any signs of issue's was worn along with the pads on the selector forks and syncros.

Over £1000 of parts went into the box to get it up to tip-top working order with a total bill of £1800 so I'd probably budget between £1000-£2000 depending on parts required, the labour cost was far cheaper than I thought as well. I did consider a second hand box but with no warranties given and what's being asked for them these day's, Imho it wasn't worth taking the risk in fitting one which could end up with the same issues 6 months down the line for the sake of a few hundred pounds extra and you get a 6 month warranty from API on the rebuilt box too. The cost above is based on removing and refitting the box myself. Hope this helps? :thumb:

Depending where you are there is TEG sport in Lancaster too, very good with boxes.
