Recommend me some neat, nice iPhone 6+ car mounts for navigation purposes, etc.

As title, can you guys recommend me some nice 6+ car windscreen mounts, mainly for navigation use. I've got a 7 year old Garmin satnav and I think it'll be nice to use my 6+ instead now.

Budget up to £50 should be enough.

Edit to add: I'd like the mount to have a power supply of some sort so that it connects into the cigarette lighter and as an extra bonus, a frequency radio transmitter thing so that I can tune it into my original 1999 car stereo so that it plays the navigation through the car speakers (and music). Is there anything like this on the market? Will incase budget if the perfect one is available.

This fm transmitter?

With a usb cable connected to my iPhone into this mount?

Would ideally like something more streamlined if possible?

Scratch the above, this all-in-one kit looks good for £24 but would be willing to spend double on something a bit more "beefy" if anyone can find something better looking!

Slightly more but having tried a ton of them this is hard to beat http://www.quadlockcase.com/products...iphone-6-plus?

I use the bike kit too and it's brilliant.

I use an Arkon sun visor mount with my 6+

Not quite in line of sight !!

For 70 quid you could get proper Sat nav AND be undisturbed by calls , at just the wrong moment

Calls don't interfere with Apple Maps navigation, even works great on the lock screen. Even better with the Watch, I just rode my bike through Oxford city centre using the Watch, brilliant.

The place is made for cycling isn't it ? , or is that Cambridge

How difficult can it be

dpb 27 April 2015 04:47 PM

...Unless you were spaced out having said that!

JackClark 27 April 2015 06:10 PM

I rode in without my bicycle lock, stopped, asked siri to get me direction to a bike shop and followed instruction, all from my Watch. Nice new lock as a bonus.

Is that OK or would you like to try pissing on the fire again?

dpb 27 April 2015 08:41 PM

I see , fair enough

P1Fanatic 28 April 2015 05:47 PM

Does it have to be screen mounted? To me that's hassle taking it on and off the screen so as not to advertise you have a satnav as much.

I've used Brodit mounts on the dash. Come in two parts so if you change car or phone you only need to change part of it.

Can also recommend the Griffin Powerjolt charger cable for iphone 6 - just as good as my mains charger tbh. You need a decent charger to ensure your battery doesn't drop whilst running a satnav app. Only downside is the cable is fairly short and tightly coiled so might not be as good if you do decide to screen mount.

I've spent a long time looking on the net and looked at the recommendations suggested to me. The quad lock looks very good quality but I don't like the case design on the phone. It would only be worth it if I had a lot of different quad lock mounts e.g. one for the car, one for the bike.

There is nothing on the market, good quality-wise that I want. I wanted a mount, with built-in fm transmitter, with a built-in charging lead too.

This is the best I could find and it was £30:

As you can see it mounts the phone, there's a built in fm transmitter so it will play the satnav and my music through the speakers, and also a charging lead down the cigarette port. I'm surprised no company does a better "all-in-one" thing like this for £60-70 in better quality and a more streamline approach. Anyway, I hope it'll do the job but as dpb has mentioned, you can get TomTom satnavs for £100 so I can see why.

LSherratt 28 April 2015 08:06 PM

In fact, looking at the picture now again, it looks quite tacky really. Hmmm maybe I should have just bought a new satnav..... :wonder::o

dpb 28 April 2015 09:47 PM

That doesnt look so neat

LSherratt 29 April 2015 07:53 AM

Agreed, but the only one on the market! Should have got a new satnav instead now :lol1:.

P1Fanatic 29 April 2015 07:10 PM

Is your 6+ not that loud on full volume? My 6 was fine with TomTom app when I used it through the phone speakers. Admittedly a lot better & more integrated (turning music down when speaking instructions etc) via Bluetooth audio. But perfectly useable.

LSherratt 30 April 2015 07:38 AM

I've got the original cassette stereo in my Subaru so I want to be able to play music from my phone for those longer journeys.

dpb 30 April 2015 07:58 AM

How many cassettes do you own

Iv got about 50

LSherratt 30 April 2015 10:58 AM

Cassettes were just being phased out when I was growing up ;) Ive never owned a cassette :lol1:

JackClark 30 April 2015 11:10 AM

Tightwad farmers, get one of these http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/page/produc...ecFRoCWYjw_wcB

dpb 30 April 2015 11:59 AM

Those must be 400 quid starting price fgs. !

£300 odd, I think I might get one my old Alpine is very out of date, it was the first car stereo to be iPod/iPhone specific and cost more than that.

Are you a farmer too dpb?

dpb 30 April 2015 02:01 PM

No I'm not a farmer and I don't vote Tory either
