aluminium wheel nuts
Hi I like to no are aluminium wheel nuts dangerous if you are on the track or not?

I never could understand why anyone would fit something so important that was potentially weaker than the OEM item, and yet added nothing other than a very small cosmetic change. Stick with steel if you're going on track definitely.

Had them on my 450bhp track car without any problems and have them on my 400bhp road car aswell without issues
Put them on by hand then torque them up properly ,, most fails iv seen have been due to cross threading them when putting them on (impact guns are a big no no) and then the thread fails |
I've got a set on my classic and done over 3k miles with no issues at all and the wheels have been on and off quite a few times. As said above hand torque them up and they'll be fine.

QUALITY is the key and torquing them correctly as above.................
before they were banned most teams used ALI in race & rally use, i stll have a set of nuts n one of the road cars that must be 10yrs+ now........ |
