Fault code reading.

Morning guys and girls, lovely day in sunny essex. Does anybody know where i can pick up a handheld fault code reader for my 03 wrx? It's a pain in the ass keep going to my garage when somethings up and the car flags up for silly things like muddy tyres haha. I just want to be able to communicate with my car, doesn't matter how its used (laptop, handheld etc) thanks 👍👍

I tend to suggest a cheap VAGCOM lead off ebay and romraider/Tara racing software on a laptop, this gives you more then just error code reading, it will allow you to read the codes and also carry out live data readings from the car, so you can actually look at what a sensor is doing or even what the engine is doing,
Or buy a Bluetooth obd reader and use free torque SW on your phone/Tablet.

Wow

Wow thanks a lot bro, I suppose having a real deal setup to know exactly what the car is doing id tempting. Depends on the price for the kit i would opt for that! as long as i can clear the blank fault coming on my dash with no historical data that good enough, but im gonna look into this. The lead you suggested, is that specific for my car or are these plugs universal fitting etc. Thanks bro

Universal connector, if you have a laptop/notebook then I'd go VAGCOM and download romraider, it's been a godsend for me trying to diagnose problems.

That's what I've got and the software is free, so for a fiver you're up and running :thumb:
