Et
Can someone confirm a few details for me,
What's the et for newage alloys? A higher et, makes the wheels stick out further? How much higher or lower than standard works with no issues? |
stock ET on a newage WRX is 55
lower offset 'makes the wheels stick out further' the ideal offset depends on your wheels, tyres, springs, ride height, camber, and how you want your car to look. For example, I saw an ABT RS6 yesterday with enormously wide rims and tyres and much less offset (the rims were just about in line with the arches) but it still had huge wheelgap and therefore looked crap. And it would probably rub on bumps. These links might help: http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp http://www.kouki.co.uk/utilities/vis...ize-calculator |
Cool thanks
It's a standard car, just looking for some wheels/tyres and wanted to know what would fit. |
17x7 ET55 for 215/45-17, but lots of aftermarket stuff is 17x7.5 and ET48, better for slightly wider 225 section tyres.
|
I'm assuming 18x7.5, et 46 would be a straight fit?
225/40/18 tyre wise? |
What is standard classic et?
If a set of 18s fit a classic how sure can I be they will fit ok on a newage? |
Anyone running 18x8 et32 on a newage? You got any pics? Want see how far they stick out.

Hi there
We are run on our wagon 9JX17" ET20 with 255/40 R17 tyres and tyres has stick out bit,if you want to run lower ET and wide tyres I would strongly advise to have coilovers and camber bolts But we are run XXR530 8.75X18" ET25 without the issue,we are run them with 245/40 or 235/40 tyres too, they didn't stick too much but they will always stick on wagons,on saloon they shouldn't if you will be running bit more camber there Hope this helps Thanks,Jura |
These are 8x18 ET48 with 235/40 tyres fitted. At the rear I have 12mm spacers which means that they are effectively ET36 (not quite ET32 but what's 4mm between friends)

They rub? You had the arches rolled?
|
Yes the rear arches are rolled and they catch every now and again, but only since I fitted the coilovers and went uber low. I'm going to get the roller out and pull the arches a touch as I'm looking at a new set of ROTAs that are 8.5x18 and ET30:norty:
