Cat aversion therapy

Any reasonable suggestions on how girlfriend can be taught to cope with cats? - it's kind of getting in the way of work

One apparently flew at her elder brothers face when they were planting in the garden as youths leaving lasting facial scars, teasing in school. ( reading between lines it may have left infection from the claws...I don't know )

She doesn't engage visually them and of course this makes them come pleading for attention every time.....:(

Her younger brother was warned off whacking a cat at work once ( with a rolled up newspaper ) when it came up to him

- cos they don't do that sort of thing in England - They are pets lol

Getting in the way of work?

If she doesn't like cats, she doesn't. Water gun works well at training cats :D

It may work on DPB's misses too:lol1:

I have owned cats for many years and the pesky little blighters seem to sense those who have an aversion, they show this by trying to sit on their laps. Why? I have no idea they just do it :cuckoo:

The aversion is a learnt mechanism due to her brothers injuries and only increased contact with cats will help to aleviate the problem, help build a tolerance but not necesarily make the aversion go away.

Make sure you give the pussy as much attention as your cat and all should go swimmingly :thumb:

I live with a 27lb cat that could kill me any minute... Dp's GF has it easy.

Hypnosis would almost certainly be the most fuss-free and quickest way to deal with it. Most people who use this method to treat fear of spiders, flying etc only need 2 or 3 sessions, and other available approaches would take weeks or months and a lot of hard work to be as effective.

She could be at work now, if it were one cat, but the client has 3!

Never used a hypnotist myself, but I'm pretty sure most GPs or NHS trusts have lists of approved practitioners they can give you, if you've got any concerns.

Had two sessions due to fear of needles and would never have believed it would work so well. 5 years later and still no problem with them :)
