immobiliser problem

Hi
have a problem with starting believe it could be immobiliser
car turns over and theres fuel
alarm is a viper
it has two keys one a plain metal other is original plastic worn to a nub
is the immobiliser chip in the key or is it in the viper box
would a timson cut key get around the problem
thank you

is it the wee keyfob you have for the immobiliser? If so that's where the immobiliser chip is for the viper. But you probably have an immobiliser chip in they key as well for the standard system. Depends what car you have?

hi its just a little plastic type, sealed, you cannot get into it and it does not operate the central locking
car from log book says Subaru impreza nothing else

what year is the car?

im guessing '93 impreza WRX so I would assume the viper immobiliser is aftermarket.

Normally the immobiliser will cut fuel and/or spark in some way - if your getting fuel it would suggest the immobiliser is not at fault (or it's wired in a strange way).

Can you describe with more words what is happening when you try and start the car, can you describe better the exact type of car you have, maybe a picture of the keyfob thing and where it goes inside the car might help you too. Your not giving people much to help you on at the moment.

Thanks for your help
found out it wasn't immobiliser
having just brought it and still working my way round the car and its mods
reckon the previous owner flooded it because of a knackered battery
put on a new battery it coughed a couple of times gathered it was still flooded
tow started it
sweet as Happy Dayz
still a little fluffy but shes only been running 20 mins or so probably still drying the plugs will get it tuned after putting the paintwork back to standard
