Well after 10 months of ownership the car still looks awesome thanks to cQuartz Paint protection, i can still tell its on as when i tried to use Quick detailer it would not rub in. but using reload spray worked a treat.

i tried quick detailer as i thought by now it must have worn off...but i was wrong
I also had Gyeon glass treatment and this is also amazingly still active.
So here she is with a quick wash and 15mins of reload spray, No comments about exhaust tips ya *******s i forgot.

So i wanted to ask this, Currently i use Maguires tyre shine stuff the one that you rub on Purple stuff, I did try Tyre Slik from carplan but it was crap and i may as well sprayed fresh air on. Armour all seems to work kinda ok. But can any of you recommend the super shiny wetly stuff ?

When i got her from dealer they gleamed, what do they use...

I'm not a fan of "wet look" tyre finishes so use Autoglym vinyl and rubber care sprayed onto a microfibre and wiped on. Darkens the rubber nicely and drys really matt.

Best tyre gel ive used the Meguiars endurance gel(purple stuff) Until recently I tried some Art de shine Nano tyre coat(same principle as you cQuartz coatings) Apply it and it coats your tyres and keep all the dirt/mud off it and the shine lasts months instead of days like most tyre spray/gels!!!:thumb:

I use 3M tyre restorer on a sponge to dress the tyres for a wet look, lasts ages, unless the roads get muddy.

Looks lovely Ted, quality car with quality paintwork... Subaru should take note of how it's done!

we have a black one in now, the lad paid 54k for it, the paint is very peely if not dull looking due to this, cant see nearly 60k in it tbh

wow thats a lot Cup mines pretty loaded but was only 45, he must have leather and ILS etc....still unsure if u can actually tip50K though ?

My detailer told me the paints soft on mercs hence why i had Paint protection done properly, the guy who did it spent 4 days on it, using rupees correction stuff and other products... id have thought black would have been good too, think Shauns is black his looks nice..

My paint work is certainly not dull.

I don't get this "paint is soft" crap either. Stones are stones, and if one bounces off your paint work it's going to mark it. Especially at speed.

Personally I think the paint protection stuff is a waste of time.

I'd just expect a better finish for the price, BMW are the same, very orange peel.

There are ceramic lacquers which are super hard but they have phased them out a bit.

Some paints are softer than others but that's in more terms of polishing, could be the hardest paint inc the world, stones a stone like you say.

I'd agree 100%, on my GT-R after 3 years the front end was like new because I made sure to keep my distance from the car in front when traveling at speed.

Thats exactly the car ive been looking, want something thats quick yet a bit more refined for motorway trips with the family than the moddified RS. I was looking at buying new but a few owners have said about value dropping like a stone from new, will probably buy one thats say 6-12 month old. Options i want are pan roof, performance wheel & exhaust

Don't forget the map, I've just taken mine off yesterday to see if I really can tell, and man it's like night and day..

The cars fast and if you have not modded it you'll be used to it and love it, but understand this without it me personally find the car flat now LOL it wasn't when I got it I know but I've adjusted to the renntech box.

I'm gonna leave it off for now as I want to get the latest Gearbox and Ecu updates done so best not tempt fate with dealer.

I'm gonna ring Monday see if I can't get her booked in, service is in 3 months also...
I think the hit on any car is large BOY, but not as large as ED mentioned on the aclass forum, I think his dealer was lifting his leg,if you can find one second hand then great, problem I had was second hand finance rates are not cheap, only new gets you 2 to 5% apr used is near 10s unless dealer does special deals...

Just remember aero adds value and 19imch wheels and pano roof also, the cars looks **** with 18s why anyone would buy an aclass for 40k and have it look like a 25k a180 I never know....

Also on pcp I can give it back after 2 years which is what I normally do, however this little baby I may keep this time.....time will tell

If the car is on lease/PCP etc. why bother with paint protection?

Because I might keep it.....also it's my mate that does it so no brainier really.

Didn't cost much more than a full valet. It all comes down to if I keep it then I e looked after it from day one, if I don't my loss.

I,ll prob keep this one though, early days though for the engine I'm hoping it's fully forged package will last, just hope the rest of the cars up to the task...

Just get a dealer registered "demo" car. That's what I bought. 5 months old with 2.2k on the clock. New value was £44k - I paid £37k. Even if you went for finance, you're still going to save over new.

I thought your period was 4yrs, or have I got my wires crossed.

Just because it's PCP doesn't mean you can hand it back after 2yrs. It's down to the term you have taken the PCP deal over, from your main dealer, which signifies when you can "just" hand the car back.

Of course you can "sell it back" to the dealer at any time, but you're going to have to top-up the short fall obviously.

It's down to when I've paid half of whatever the pcp value is, or just over, which in my book is just over 24 months if I'd have put nothing down, but as I put 6k down I can prob do it sooner...

I need to find out to be honest and see what the exact date would be, then either line up that Rs6 or the escort Ghia , or keep the car.... I just need to make sure them wheels stay tip top as they will pull me on them most probably..

The mileage won't be much, in my Scooby I had over 17k mileage to pay only cost me 600 quid.

Shaun my local dealer had one with 800 miles with aero & wheel plus pilot etc and it was up at 38k. Just too early at moment, i love my RS so i dont want to swap it until i have had the car 2 years which is another 6 months or so. They also had a new one that was 38k but without pilot or the performance wheel & exhaust.

PS It was the Aclass owners forum that was giving me worries about buying brand new

Not sure I understand. The PCP future value is the same regardless of how much you put down, and is denoted by the term. The only thing the deposit reduces is the monthly payment. If you don't go the full term, then you need to pay the shortfall, between the car value as sold and what your PCP to pay amount was.

I saved £7k buying a five month old example. I'd say based on used screen price they're right. Of course other elements of the deal may benefit you, by buying new (finance). However, I bought mine on 0% finance (MB had a special deal just after new year) so it was a total no brainer for me. I didn't have to tie up my capital (other then 40%), and zero finance charges.

No you don't... If you take pcp over 4 years you have to pay at least half the pcp amount, forget the balloon

For simple term let's say cars worth 30k final balloon say 10k so you pcp 20k once I've paid 10 u can send it back..... I do it when I get fed up, it's called voluntary termination. The end balloon figure means nothing, it only matters when u reach the end of the 4th year MB then help you finance it. It's kinda a get out of Jail early card mid term, it's part of how pcps work...

Forget my 6k I was being special, I'll find out my return date under VT tomorrow but as I got the car in July I guess nest October is a safe bet, I did same with the Scooby 3 months after the 2 years anniversary.

Only thing you need to be mindful is that you know how much the excess mileage is but that's the same as if you hand back after 4 too, and any dents shagged wheels etc all need mending or you will be charged at a xxx rate for them, wheels are about 90 quid a corner if not more

Here a snippet from a site, it doesn't effect your credit and I've yet to have anything bad put on any VTs, there pretty good never moan it's part of the deals

50% relates to the agreement value (so if you have a £20k finance agreement, you need to owe less than £10k).

Generally if you Volutarily Terminat (VT) your vehicle, it does not affect your credit rating as it is a consumer right, however I believe that when they mark your finance as 'settled' on your credit file, they are able to put a note on it stating that you VT'd the vehicle. This will not affect you for most things, but if you are refinancing a new vehicle, other finance companies may be wary of you (This stays on your credit record for a number of years, and vehicle finance people see people like me do a PH (no limited mileage like a PCP) put an extreme amount of mileage on the car, and handback a worthless vehicle whilst still owing 50%, this can mean they actually loose money! This does not affect you for personal loans or mortgages because these clauses are not available on these financial products.
