Car tax question

Why is 6 months car tax £126.50 on a 2003 spec c type25 when I paid £156.50 on a 2001 bugeye?

Just how they are registered, my 04" evo 8 MR was £126.40 and my mates 03" was £147.20

My07 spec c is £126
