Oil Cooler install with FMIC
I am going to buy an oil cooler - I live in Oz and the ambient air temps can exceed 40 c in the summer . A conventional install is obstructed by my FMIC.
Is there an alternative position for the OC ? |
Hi there
What car do you have ? New age or classic? We have fitted oil cooler behind front grill if this does helps, but some people have fitted their oil cooler behind the fog light Hope this helps Thanks,Jura |

With bumper on the cooler sits in the gap behind fog cover.

Doesn't it empty and need refilling when you switch the car on and off ? As gravity would cause it to empty to its lowest point surly ?

tsl installed this with there hyperflow fmic kit
im sure they know there stuff same at zen and its been 4 yrs since its been installed be nice to have a gander see what conditions the pipes are in steve |
No different to a oil line popping off a glowing hot turbo
And no the fluid will stay where it is if there's a stat (it will create a capillary) |
Mine is fitted behind my fmic, I have removed the air con rad so there is more room for it, works well for me so far.

I fitted mine behind the grill on my classic above the front mount with a few brackets I made
|
|
Mine is behind the grill, above the fmic.
|
fitted mine behind the foglight covers (gc8), drilled some holes in those so that it gets plenty of cool air.
