Hi,

I'm thinking of getting rid of my UK97 and buying an STI V or Type R. Been thinking about all the mods I want and may as well just get one of these and start 'further up the ladder'.

My question is how do you run these in the UK? Is SUL or Optimax good enough or do I need to use Octane boosters as well? I really can't be bothered with all this and was hoping that I could get it remapped to SUL. Will I loose any power doing this and how much will it cost?

Cheers,

Rob

If you can find an Optimax garage, stick to it. It's better than SUL apparently.
Always use SUL at the very least.

Doesn't anybody know if a remap will cure this?

I have run a JDM V6 for the last 18 months on SUL/Optimax and the octane booster is not a problem I buy it in batches of 10 bottles of scoobymania cost about 25 quid. One bottle does a tankful no measuring just chuck the whole bottle in. I would rather do this than start messing with remapping the ECU. If you are worried fit a knocklink and if its detting then think about a remap or replacement ECU. Just IMHO of course.
