Dont know much about these older shape cars (apart from I prefer them looks wise) but am going to take a look at Y Reg 7.5k miler next monday. Is advertised as having Sports Seats - are these the same as the MY01 seat choice with Sports having adjustable head rest and bucket seats being self explanatory?

Only thing that worries me is that for a car of such low miles its had 2 owners. Any obvious things I should look for?

I would ideally like a MY00 Turbo 4dr, low miles, silver or dbm, SS BB, ppp preferred, at least a years warranty left, colour coded side sills etc but finding one of these babies is hard work. Anyone know of such a car that will be for sale in the next month or so??

Simon.

MY00 with sports seats ?? Maybe someone can enlighten me - the Turbo comes as std with bucket seats with the grey strips on the seat and back.
Sounds like its being sold by someone who doesn't know anything about them, and you may be right to be suspicious - 2 owners in 7500 miles????
I would ask for the name of the first owner & try contact him before making the trip to see it.

Well its from a dealer but good point about checking with previous owners. I thought the sports seats bit was weird but looking at other cars listed on the subaru site many are advertised with sports seats e.g.

SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 TURBO AWD 4 DOOR FINISHED IN DARK BLUE MICA WITH BLACK CLOTH INTERIOR. SPECIFICATION INCLUDES ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, TWIN AIR BAGS, ALARM, ALLOY WHEELS, CD PLAYER, CENTRAL LOCKING, ELECTRIC WINDOWS, ENGINE IMMOBILISER, HEADLAMP WASH WIPE, 5-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX, POWER STEERING, SPORTS SEATS AND SPORTS SUSPENSION. SERVICE HISTORY AND WARRANTY. TWO OWNERS FROM NEW.

Go look at it firstly then, then get it HPI checked, you should be able to tell looking at it if its been sprayed etc. if it has I would personally walk away if you can't get any history on it. Look in the service book and see where it was sold and serviced - it should be on the dealers computer.
Is it from a Subaru dealer or an independant?

From a Subaru dealer...I doubt I'll buy it but gonna take a look anyways to get used to what to look out for.

one thing that I would never worry about is how many owners the car has had... think about it for a second, just because it has had 'one owner from new' doesn't mean it's a more desirable car - that 'one owner' could have been a complete gimp and thrashed the pants off the car at every opportunity etc...

Also note subtle difference between owners and registered keepers. Say husband and wife own a car and need to swap names on the Vehicle registration document to get cheaper insurance - it still shows 2 previous keepers although the car has not really changed hands.

You can probably get the details of the two previous owners and contact them. Also, phone the places that have serviced it. Definitely get it HPi'd and if you do an AA/RAC check, they have specialist sports car chappies that come along atnd look at the car for you. If there is anything that they should have found, you have some comeback later.

There is no reason why a car owned by 2 people must have something wrong with it. The scoob is an expensive car to run but you don;t really realise it until too late :D I think. That might be the reason.

Is there a FSH? What does the car look like and how does it drive? DO you have any mates that can go aloing and look at it with you? I found most of the people on here very willingto help out.

Good luck, mate.

[sherlock holmes mode on)

Just look at the clues guys

1)Its a Y reg 2001 classic (this car was built in 2000)
2)7,500 low mileage
3)2 owners

My guess is was a car that hadnt sold so a dealer registered it and sold as a demo model hence two owners ;).
