Mid range knock (how to eliminate with ESL tuning)

Hi gents,

I have a jdm 96 sti wagon that seems to have a tiny bit of knock mid range. I have an ESL board installed and have been reading up and learning how to tune, but have yet to seriously change anything. Would anyone be able to help me to work on eliminating the little bit of knock im seeing mid range. Maybe even help clean up the entire map? CSV file of two 3rd gear pulls have been posted to datazap. Any input is greatly appreciated. Engine is still stock, no modifications whatsoever.

Is it actually starting to det though or just the ECU think it is hearing it ?? I suggest listening to it with some det can's and determine if it is real and going from there.

You need to be logging actual AFR with a wideband sensor before you'll be able to achieve anything here, not map requested AFR. That's just showing us what the ECU is trying to do, nothing more. Also, the knock event counter isn't really showing you whether you have actual det occurring. Again, as said, det cans are the way forward. Also, logs of the IAM would be required too.

I have a wideband with logging capabilities, but im not sure ESL allows external inputs like a standalone ECU can. Any other methods im not aware of?

Just log the wideband separately, you need to be able to see if the mixture is going weak at that spike of boost where the knock counter goes up. I log mine separately on a Zeitronix ZT-2. The ZT-2 can log boost, RPM, AFR, TPS, fuel pressure, EGT all at the same time which is a great help. I just bring up two graphs/tables using ESL info on one and ZT-2 info for the other, line them up together and work from there.
