Skoda Octavia vRS

Thinking about buying the new one.Going to see diesel one tomorrow for a spin.Got a 318d to exchange.

Have to say, massive fan of them.Had the mk1 but £30 road tax for a warm hatch with a massive boot (main reason for buying).Amazing

Anyone got experience of latest one or anyone still say,its still a Skoda! Lol

Still got my Mk1 Octavia vRS and it's awesome. Coming up 100k miles. Put some semi slicks on it and it eats B-road and cruises lovely on the motorway with the optional cruise control :) Boot is as you say HUGE ! :D

taylor85 12 March 2015 10:17 AM

i love my estate one! its a 62 plate with 60k on and just doesnt want for anything

my workmate has the 118d m sport and trading that in for a new VRS as he has literally no gadgets and mines fully loaded and alot cheaper on company car tax

Their is a new octavia VRS 230 coming out soon

theboy 12 March 2015 10:36 AM

I owned the Mk1 and loved every minute of it. Great cars & its basically a VW

greg320 12 March 2015 12:21 PM

I have a new vrs diesel, got to say a lot more refined than the previous version, like you say boot is huge and there's plenty of room in the cabin, the claimed mpg is a tad optimistic, but still averages between 45-50 to the gallon and slightly more on a run.

You can't go wrong when they do offers like this

chrisowe 12 March 2015 08:39 PM

Do they have the same amount of kit compared to the equivalent Golf GTD?

Golf nearly 4k more :o

Not checked one against the other but I don't know what the Octavia hasn't got.Even Lane Assist (not sure about that though...)

taylor85 12 March 2015 09:39 PM

I looked at a golf , they are too dull and common for me

Even if it's pretty much the same car , the golf is something my nan would drive

Shaun 13 March 2015 02:31 PM

Obvious troll post here:

A VW is something you buy when you can't afford an Audi.

A Seat is something you buy when you can't afford a VW.

A Skoda is something you buy when you can't afford a push bike.

:D

It's looks a nice car. :)

lozgti1 13 March 2015 05:41 PM

Lol :-)

Ticked all my boxes, especially the boot and kit
Cant wait to pick it up (will save me washing the BM too at weekend.lol)

That's bloody amazing!

Gear Head 15 March 2015 10:38 AM

I know, surprised me too.
That's the first lease car I think I'd actually consider. Can't believe I'm saying that......a skoda?

What's wrong with me! :wonder:

lozgti1 15 March 2015 02:39 PM

Nothing.lol

I very much enjoy being anti establishment and Skoda's great cars are a way of doing it.150 mph!!

Looie 15 March 2015 07:25 PM

I got a Mk2 VRS 2½yrs ago when I finally managed to say goodbye to my STI and while I miss the 4WD of the Scoob, that's about it........ The VRS does everything else I need from a motor, still surprises most when you do floor it and you quickly realise how rapid you are moving - it's soooo much quieter than the Scoob (and the fuel consumption is way, way better.......) and as previously mentioned - the boot is mahooosive ! - it's not "In your face" like the STI was, so it tends to be ignored on the road, so you don't get the boy racers constantly trying to take you on......... the VRS however can still see most of them off anyway!

Am currently waiting for some brochures on the VRS 230 as I may be tempted if the right deal can be made... :D

Littleted 16 March 2015 09:07 AM

Mates at work just got the new one and other got the superb, nice cars, VRS has been back for some stereo head unit issues but other than that great.

Have to admit you get a lot for your money, I'd get petrol as I don't want DPF issues, but if you do the miles then fine...

An0n0m0us 16 March 2015 01:46 PM

I had the Mk1 between scoobs and it was a fantastic car. That deal above is superb, I really like the estate in white

Looie 16 March 2015 09:17 PM

You can get a decent MPG from the VRS - Bearing in mind mine is a Petrol, Manual, and NOT a diesel.............

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps1923d6b6.jpg

That was with everything zero's on the trip computer, going round the M25 on a Saturday night, and strictly keeping to the speed limit... yea really.....:brickwall

OK, coming back home was a bit different, but it does go to show you don't need the diesel to get good MPG from these.....
Done the same trip a few times and this was the best - usually it's 42 upwards, but compared to the Scoob's 23mpg on the daily use, these are brilliant! :)

lozgti1 18 March 2015 09:34 PM

Got it a day early today

Oh yes....very,very pleased

Get some pics up then! What's it like to drive in terms of performance? I remember my mkI that if you put your foot down pulling away you got serious torque steer so has that been remedied?

lozgti1 20 March 2015 12:11 AM

Coming ;-) thank you....

Superb performance.No torque steer.Just a brilliant car

Have no desire whatsover for the favourite three,Merc,BM,Audi.Do absolutely nothing for me

This is different, quick, comes with so much blooming kit.And everyone wants to talk to me as soon as I've parked up.So much for a sleeper!!

Best car I have owned. And yes, been through the bmw and Audi stables ;-)

Dirk Diggler 75 20 March 2015 12:29 AM

Good cars to be fair,i owned a mk1 Octavia never had any trouble with it,the newer models look smart imo,i just couldn't get past the badge snobbery,i now drive an Audi..

lozgti1 20 March 2015 12:42 AM

Lol

Some beautiful, stunning Audis and Mercs out there. But I'm the opposite with the snobbery.Really wanted the Skoda badge to say I don't care....just about the car.Bloody phenomonal.Well, perhaps that's a bit much, but people seem so much more interested in it than my bm and Audi and want a sit in it and feel.Never had that with the others

Cracking car.Nice to be different :-)

lozgti1 20 March 2015 12:44 AM

So bloody makes me smile :-) looking at it and driving it

Excellent:-)

nik52wrx 20 March 2015 08:00 AM

Did you buy a £199 a month lease deal cars?
I quite like them, especially in blue, for the price and reviews they've got to be taken more seriously these days, enjoy :thumb:

lozgti1 20 March 2015 08:47 AM

£215 a month

No service for a year (even those about £130 minor,£250 major). No MOT for 3 years.£260 to insure (Ok Im old, lol) 60 mpg (probobly more like 40 as I keep pressing the vRS sport button.Hah!)

And yes,Race blue stunning.Daylight running lights stunning too.Xeonons also brilliant

My brother(ex Porsche,Maserati and Jag XF owner) loved it.Said had more kit than his XF and more than enough oomph

I'll be happy for 3 years :-).Simpsons deal looks amazing....
