what's your thoughts about this hawkeye?

Hi guys, newbie here and I'm currently looking for some decent STI.
I just found this

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...k-blue/3780484

but isn't priced a bit too low? or is it just a bargain :P
maybe anyone now this car?
Thanks

quote from ad ' mild engine modifications to increase the power to 367bhp/400lbft (at wheels). '

That's a lot of power if true.Probably way over 400bhp from the engine.
The 2.5 litre engine is prone to failures with that much power(see the many threads on here discussing it) unless it has been modified to withstand the increase.

Possibly selling cheap because the engine is now on the way out.Make sure you get it checked by someone who knows these cars before commiting.:thumb:

Ticking time bomb

mestonian 06 March 2015 06:37 AM

Regardless of the presumed engine issues (not that we know it has any) that car is way too cheap. Like half price cheap. I wouldn't go near it on that basis alone. As the old saying goes, if it looks too good to be true...

ditchmyster 06 March 2015 06:59 AM

At £5k buy it and drive or better still get it trailered to API, spend £3k on having it forged and jobs a good un.

It is extremely cheap though so make sure you go with a car full of burly mates when you go there with the £5k to make sure you don't get turned over.:thumb:

Or you could just take the Shreksta with you. :lol1:

My pal had this only a week ago, went to buy a motor with £6,500 cash and was greeted by a load of Asian lads who duly took it off him and did one in a vw transporter. Police showed little in the way of interest.

100% scam, few grand too cheap.

next cheapest is £8800

south_scoob 06 March 2015 08:11 AM

Dont go there with the five grand hanging from you kneck and youve got nothing to loose. You can only be scamed if you let yourself be scamed

mestonian 06 March 2015 08:46 AM

This may help you out.

http://www.ukvehicle.com/FN57HFB/

The car was for sale as follows:

12th December 2014
£4,600 - 62,000 miles
Location: Buzzard

14th December 2014
£4,600 - 62,000 miles
Location: Warwickshire

5th March 2015
£5,100 - 59,300 miles
Location: Bedfordshire

Erm...... something not seem right to you? :D

BrownPantsRacing 06 March 2015 08:49 AM

With those mods that is certainly NOT power at the wheels. That will be power at flywheel.

FlatoutDave 06 March 2015 09:30 AM

Thats a scam all day long.

Brodziu 06 March 2015 10:54 AM

thanks a lot for your help, I thought it was too cheap so the engine may be at the end of it's life, but I was thinking that maybe it's worth to take it for £5k and forge it, but tbh I didn't thought about being scammed :/
I'll keep searching for my dream STI :D
thanks once again

PODWRX2 06 March 2015 12:34 PM

Would probably need to be over 450bhp at the flywheel to get those numbers at the wheels - i want some of those spark plugs:lol1:

Steve001 06 March 2015 02:08 PM

Offer him 4k and ask to meet at a specialist garage of your choice :)

I don't think that's what the lads are getting at... It's not that the engine is fooked.. It's that it's either not real car or it's not for sale.. So you'll turn up and either get mugged or pay a deposit to secure the vehicle..

Not when it's 3,000 miles the wrong way.... :D

EDITED - March 2015, not 2014. My bad....

But now you get the drift.... :D

scoobyboy1 06 March 2015 07:12 PM

You will phone up and the seller will say he has had loads of interest and if you want it you need to give a deposit through a bank transfer!!

My brother phoned about a cheap car and the guy was 10 mile from his house, my brother said he would come round now with the cash and buy it, but the guy made loads of excuses for my brother not to turn up but kept insisting to pay a deposit through a bank transfer to secure the car otherwise it will be gone.

To good to be true, no one advertises a car half of what its worth, even if it was £8k thats cheap without sounding like a scam.:thumb:

Berks-Jack 06 March 2015 07:24 PM

Has anyone called the seller? :norty:
