Fuel pumps labelling
 

Hi everyone.

Just looking for a bit of info regarding fuel pumps and there labelling.

When I got my 98 impreza Terzo, the guy said there was an uprated fuel pump in the boot (loose, not fitted).

Just got round to having a look at it and it looks like an OEM part in good condition. It has a green label on the top plate with S.V. On it. Having done a little research, I note there are various pumps with various labels.

Can anyone shed a little light on the different pump/label types?

Also what would be a stock pump on a MY98 UK turbo?

Look for part numbers stamped on the side of the pump body itself. Walbro should have something like GSS342 stamped in. My SWRD pump has exactly that, SWRD marked on the side. There's plenty of other manufacturers as well.

Also, I think the standard pump is around 170lph from reading other posts.

From the markings I can see its a Walbro GSS341 pump, which I assume would be an upgrade from the stock one.

Yes that's a 255lph pump, good upgrade from the stock pump.

Is it a straight forward job?

Yeah straight forward enough and can be done with a basic set of tools. Make sure the ignition is off. The cover panel (driver side) is held down by a few screws, once removed you get access to the fuel lines and wiring for the pump. Disconnect everything and then remove the bolts that secure the fuel pump assembly. The whole lot will lift up out of the tank and it's just a matter of installing the new pump. It's easiest accessed with the rear seat backs folded down. Should take no more than an hour.

My back seats don't fold down but easy enough to remove the seat if it doesn't. Like piehole says it's an easy upgrade to do if you're handy with a spanner. I also removed petrol cap to relieve pressure and when I unplugged the connecting block just cranked the car over a couple of times.
