I'm coming back :)

Well, after a few years away, in that time i've had a 135i DCT (standard) - then bought an E92 M3 - then back to a 135i DCT with downpipes, cooler, JB4 Stage 2, etc - running close to 400bhp, proper little weapon. Anyway, i'm coming back to subaru and just need to find a good one, there's one in particular i've seen that i may fancy but wouldnt mind opinions.

It looks pretty good. My main question would be.... Who built the engine? If they tell you it might be worth giving them a call with a couple of prepared Q's &A's

mestonian 27 February 2015 09:54 AM

Yeah i have asked them and the answer was:

"The rebuild paperwork is all present and was carried out by a local garage called Eurolane"

Not the best start, and to finally seal the deal, i asked them how much deposit they would want to hold the car whilst i went to have a look (with a view to transferring the rest when i arrive if i want it). They told me £1,000.

Fair enough, a few hundred quid to show willing, but they're not getting a grand off me sight unseen im afraid, what if i dont want it? then i either lose £1k or spend months trying to get it back!

I think i'll keep looking!

I wouldn't let the cash request put you off too much. They've probably had every 19 year old in his vx wannabe corsa turn up asking for a test drive.

My concern would be more about the people that built the engine. It might be the case that "Eurolane" actually sent it to one of the well known specialists on here to build and then just fitted it. Happens quite a lot.

Hopefully someone living near the car will see the thread and possibly offer their services. They can't be asking cash to look :)

Yeah i understand that, although ive spoken to eurolane and they supposedly did it in inhouse and having not heard of them i wont be going for it. Plenty of options to choose from, if i have to wait it out to find the right one so be it.

Cheers for the advice mate.

What did you think of the e92 m3. I really love the v8 sound in them, wish they had that engine in the e46 which imo would be an ultimate m3.

I viewed this car about 2 years ago when it was for sale in Burton-on-Trent, I wouldn't bother if I was you, the whole side of the car(driverside if I remember) had been painted with plenty of filler, the paint was really bad that it looked like it was done by a rattle can, I walked away even though the garage did say that they would have it painted again for me.

It was on the standard engine when I viewed it 2 years ago!!:thumb:

Have a look at the 3rd picture across, and you will notice the difference in paint colour from the front bumper and wing!!:wonder:

For a company that sells what seem to be high end class cars something is very odd in my view.
