Decided these are the wheels I want for my WRX and they all seem to be in the states.
I can obviously get the UK sti versions instead but only in 5x114.3 meaning I'll need some hub adaptors, which I'm not keen on as I've heard of fitment issues.

fat-thomas 24 February 2015 09:17 AM

lovely wheels and rare hence the issue.

JonMc 24 February 2015 09:21 AM

Or you could do a 5x114 hub conversion - they are stronger hubs anyway and while you're at it fit the 6-speed box:D

Ha, £2500 is very expensive, just for alloy wheels!

I won't be changing the turbo and going for crazy power, so the slick 5 speed will be staying thanks.

I would go for the hub adaptors but I have heard a few horror stories, despite what CDF racing tell me about own adaptors.

Unless anyone has any experience to the contrary??

JonMc 24 February 2015 09:48 AM

Hub adaptors, like spacers, will affect your track which people say has an adverse affect on wheel bearing wear - I remain to be convinced.

As long as you don't buy cheap hub converters should be okay, but they will make your wheels sit further out in the arch by whatever depth the adaptors are - you can save that £2.5k for a wide arch conversion :D

Those wheels are available in 5 x 100 PCD size, I think Jap Performance Parts had a set a while back plus The Pink Ninja (GAZ2293) also had some in black which I think he either has sold or will be selling. :)

He has sold them unfortunately.
I thought BBS was only in 5x100. Not the UK STI versions. (I forget the make)

ScoobyDoo69 24 February 2015 10:50 AM

The UK STi versions are Enkei wheels and are not the same.

USDM and JDM cars had the BBS available in 17x7.5 5x100 fitment and 17x8 5x114 fitment.

I have 2 x sets of the 5x100 fitment versions, one gold and one silver. Nice rare wheels that are very light too.

Gear Head 24 February 2015 11:07 AM

Don't suppose your interested in selling the silver set??

:D

ScoobyDoo69 24 February 2015 11:14 AM

They're probably worth more to me than they are actually worth...! I searched for years for them, then they eventually came up.

They do seem to pop up more and more often these days though with JDM cars being broken for spares.

Sorry fella, really looking for 5x100.

I thought all BBS sti alloys were 5x100 not 5x114? :wonder:

I have 3 sets which doesn't help but I like being smug :D

With new quality tyres a set will easily set you back 1300 quid :(

What's your budget ? :)

Gear Head 24 February 2015 11:58 AM

Show off!

Well I can get a set from the states for under £500..... :thumb:

That is not refurbished and without tyres though.

I would pay more though but not £1300.

53 24 February 2015 12:05 PM

Be careful importing them, I know people who have tried and ended up with eggs :( 700-800 isn't unreasonable for a good set and a nice set of AD08R's it's easy to lose 1300 quid :)

Gear Head 24 February 2015 12:07 PM

£800 with tyres is kind of what I'm expecting.

As you say, I'd much rather source from within the UK.

I don't think there is any other wheel out there that suits the Newage Impreza as well as these do.

I am so jealous of you right now!

Speed line turinis do,but they are a similar price

bugeyejohn 24 February 2015 12:29 PM

Another to consider are the Rays prodrive GC10E I have these and the BBS wheels and tbh I don't think I could choose one over the other.

I do agree though, they also look very nice.

Any other wheel would need an upgrade in size to 18 inch to look right.

But the Speedline and BBS wheels seem to look good at the standard size.

I do but I have had loads of sets of wheels and if I could fit 17s to my car I would have BBS ones, but I need 18s due to 356mm brakes so speed lines were the next best thing

53 did you have these powder coated or painted? I'm looking at having mine done in black :thumb:

Martin

53 24 February 2015 01:36 PM

Painted :)

Another rare wheel to consider ... 18" STi Enkeis ;) ... don't mind if I do :D ... These were stupid expensive !!!

The Spec C BBS wheels are the business though :)

ScoobyDoo69 24 February 2015 01:45 PM

Have to be honest in that I genuinely prefer the BBS to those Enkeis.

Still a great wheel though.

Gear Head 24 February 2015 02:08 PM

Yeah I prefer the smaller 17 inch BBS alloys too.

53 24 February 2015 02:39 PM

And me ;) But it's nice to have the choice...

I prefer these more though :D

May have found a set in the states.

Under £400 delivered as I have a work DHL account where I can 'lose' the carriage cost!

Just finalising the details now.
