Wiring in boost gauge, mounting options

Hi all,

I have just purchased a boost gauge to install in my Hawk. I must admit I bought it without really thinking about where to mount it.
I had considered a triple mount in the centre of the dash but personally I am not a fan of them. looks a bit OTT for a WRX wagon I think. Also I do not really want 3 gauges, I only really want the boost to keep an eye on things.

I then looked at the pillar mounts but how would I go about getting power and signal to it? can do without pulling the dashboard out to do it.

Are they not a bit 'retro' now days?

Any other options I should consider?

Gauge is a 52mm KET LED one for size

cheers,

My 52mm sti genome guage is on my steering cowling no problems there :thumb:

Fitted mine the other day on the pillar and i only had to take the pillar trim off and poke the wires down. Required a bit of rummaging around under the dash but found them soon enough!

Cheers for replies. Glad you can get wires down by removing the pillar cover.. On that subject I found this one.

Could be an option.

Marco can you post a picture of yours? I'm intrigued as to what it looks like.

ahh I see, comes in the housing etc. I take it? Not sure I would like it located there tbh.
I might sit in the car with it attached to a battery and move it around see what I like the look of.

I am swaying towards that Nomad Racing single pod as it almost looks OEM being part of the pillar cover. anyone fitted one?

I mounted it there as that's where they put it at the factory, it's also a good place for a quick look although mine is recordable. I agree with you sitting there and moving it around until you like where it is. My one just goes in a gauge pod and screwed to the cowling.

Could try a smycluster

now they look good.. almost look OEM. do they do single ones or just twin I wonder. will have to go on a google hunt.

I do have 3 gauges as bought as a bundle volts and tacho.. no need for the tacho as obviously already have 1 and volts I was not fussed as it either works or it don't lol. guess I could fill the hole with the volts until I get something else.

I can find plenty of places in US that sell them but none in UK.. anyone know of anywhere I can get one?

FuZzBoM 20 February 2015 01:55 PM

I found this one as well.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1816396114...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Just not keen to spend £100+ on a plastic trim lol

FuZzBoM 21 February 2015 12:24 AM

Well this sucks.. find the perfect gauge holder and it is silly money and in USA lol.
If anyone knows where I can get one or one just like it in the UK please let me know

Given the cost this is VERY tempting..
http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/

Shows so much more info than just a normal gauge. But do I really want to know MPG? lol
