Best approach to SEO for two seperate counties?

I've just bought myself a couple of domain names, which I want to use to market at two specific counties.

Currently, my existing website, which is not a geographic name ranks #6 for the exact match of the new domain I puchased to target Nottingham, whilst the domain I've registered to target Lincolnshire, I currently rank 10th with my existing website.

I've been searching Google, but all the results I'm suggested refer to international targetting, such as country targetting e.g. .sk. no .se. What do you guys think the best approach would be?

I could point the domain names at my existing site, or would I be better off creating new sites, with new content and SEO, specifically tailored to the new domain names?

Forget it and concentrate on making relevant content, SEO is mostly snake oil.

More relevant content on the existing domain or new relevant content to point the new domains at?

If you're targeting a county with a domain name containing the county name then make sure the content the domain points to contains information about that county, at least mention it.

You could get fancy and run both domains on the same server, I've used domain access in Drupal to achieve similar results, but that was a high traffic commerce site that was worth the pain in the arse.

My cheap host of choice TSO will let you run two separate sites with two domains for £15 a year, that's probably your best bet.
