Sandwich plate Oil pressure sensor....Help please

Hi

My oil pressure gauge has been playing up of late done the usual checks of all the connections etc. And I think it needs replacing

I ordered this one (picture below) before taking of the skid plate underneath the car and checking. and no surprise its the wrong one.!

This is the sandwich plate that is fitted at the moment (picture below), any ideas where I can get a replacement sensor.? or can I adapt the one I have bought to fit.?

S3LDM 07 February 2015 03:48 PM

Sorry Prosport gauges..;)

Its ok Ihave found one, I forgot I need the sensor for the stepper gauges

I am a plank sometimes :)

So you have halfway decent gauges, but have them fitted via a sandwich plate?

Yep: plank.

S3LDM 07 February 2015 05:29 PM

They were already fitted to the car when I bought it..

May get round to changing it one day

Don't think it to much of a job to get rid of the sandwich plate and put the sensor in the right place where it's supposed to be

Yep ditch the sandwich and use a remote two way fitting for the pressure from the oe location under the alt and a screw in bung adaptor over cylinder 3 for temp.

That's my plan ;)

Cheers pal

I've always fitted mine into the block but the irony is in the Defi handbook it pictures a sandwich plate lol :lol1:

That's because afaik only Subaru think out where the gauges SHOULD go.

And since they have done that, it seems rude not to......

Isn't the reason the defi instructions say that because they are generic to all cars. Plus it is easier for the average person to fit and a lot more simple to buy a sandwich plate then the correct adapters.

If you buy the generic sandwich plate for the required model yes, They dont do model specific instructions.

You only need one adaptor for a Scoob to fit Defis, it's the adaptor for the tappings above No. 3 cylinder, costs about £8, usually brass or alloy.

That's cheaper than a sandwich plate and puts the sender in the correct spot.:)
