Hi guys. Im trying to get some opinions and experiences with uprating the power on a 99 WRX RA. I have read that these non-STI engines don't react well to upping the boost. Any idea what she can handle? I have upgraded to a 255L fuel pump, and have the BPM GT equal length exhaust manifolds and their twin dump 3 inch down pipe. I have a boost gauge, EGT and fuel pressure gauge. There really isn't anyone on this side of the pond that has any real experience with this model year of car, so I would greatly appreciate anything you can share.

Nice car to tune up. The WRX RA AFAIK does not have the forged pistons of the STi, but other than that seems to share a lot of other components. Most people seem to stick below 360 BHP on standard internals either STi or non-STi in the UK, and there are quite a lot more around the 320 BHP ball park.

Sounds like you already have some nice breathing mods. They are of course mapped for 100RON fuel and the response to knock is a bit weak and they run a lot of advance. You might unlock a good bit with a remap - options for self tuning include the Link ECU - which thankfully comes with a map to get you going unlike some of the generic ECU options. You may wish to consider a front mounted intercooler and possibly a larger turbo too. However, without forged pistons I wouldn't want to go over 7500 RPM rev limit personally, so don't go too big and then not be able to make really good use of it.

Thanks for the advice... any idea what I can turn the boost up to safely on stock internals? (assuming I have 100RON fuel)
