All advice wanted

I have a 1998 gf8, i blew the motor in her while back and been struggling to get a motor, I've been told so many different things. So I figured when and doubt come to the forums.

My questions are... what's better, longblock, or short block and why? Also, how difficult would it be to put a ej207 into my 1998 RHD subaru sti wagon. I read that right hand drives wiring is alot easier then LHD... who knows if that's wrong or right. And what would be needed to do so? Basically I wanna put a strong motor in my car that can still be a daily driver, handle upgrades, and not give me problems hahah, I'll have more questions in the future, kind of lost my train of thought. Thanks guys

First off, why did the last engine let go, and have you rectified the fault, or will be doing so?

Second, is it rebuildable with forged internals?

And third, if it's the same as UK cars, that model is not easy to remap, except with something like an ESL daughterboard, or a new ECU.

Blown rod bearing, I'm choosing to get a new motor, i think it's the better route because we're not to sure if anything else is wrecked, we didn't open it up, just tried to turn the crank and it didn't move haha. It's the jdm version.

Ohh, that ain't good.

Have you been running any mods? if so, what?

And had the map been checked?

Sounds suspiciously like a det problem........

If its an STi it should of had an EJ207 (SCDB) engine in there anyway so just swap for another one of those, then get it mapped......
