wrx prices

is it me or have the wrx bug and blob eye prices shot through the roof lately ?

when i was looking around at them last year you could pick up a fairly good one for around £3700 to £4200 pound.

but now im looking on ebay. gumtree and other sites and there in the high £4000+ and some over £5k and £6k

they just become more sort after lately. or some people expecting to much for them ?

they do seem to have shot up a little with sellers being slightly ambitious. I own a WRX but will still admit some are way over priced, I was looking to sell mine modified to 280ish with 61k on the clock and thought £4250 ono was pretty reasonable then looked at others to compare and was gobsmacked haha

Even though I am a WRX driver, I do have mild STI envy and would recommend paying a little more for one ;)

Fuel price might have something to do with it. Demand pushed up, as more people can afford to run them as daily drivers.

And the fact that so many are being stripped for spares. Seeing an Impreza on the road these days is a rare thing!

It's been quite rare for a few years, Chris.

I'm on the roads for around 12hrs a day and even then see very few.

Gear Head 31 January 2015 07:19 PM

I know what you mean. I just can't believe how many perfectly good examples are just getting stripped. Good for me as an 05 WRX owner though. :D

Same here delivering all over Cornwall and I only see a couple If that per day

Apparently an 02 uk300 with 60k on the clock is worth £6k!

Paul_251 02 February 2015 07:51 PM

I thought this too , I bought my old bug wagon in 2013 for £1600 I had another one 6 months earlier for £1600 too
Last one I saw for sale at that price recently had a deployed air bag !

Gear Head 05 February 2015 12:25 PM

They really have shot up recently. Mint late wrx's seem to be advertised for £6k! Even high mileage ones at around £5k. Wow, just wow. :D

And people on here say that the WRX has no value.

ditchmyster 05 February 2015 12:39 PM

I don't think it's just petrol prices, the feel good factor is coming back and when you look at the prices of other cars (German) with similar performance something like a decent S3 they're £3/4k more and a couple of years older, but parts are way more expensive. Subaru Imprezas have always been the performance bargain car to go for and now they are well and truly into the sub £7k bracket with not so many good ones about it's pushing the prices up, that and all the dealers getting into them recently is bolstering prices.

Supply and demand.:thumb:

Yep looking at prices, I'll still get what I paid for mine 3 1/2yrs ago. :D

Tidgy 05 February 2015 12:50 PM

can still pick em up for under 3k if you hunt around, just getting harder to find decent ones

jaygsi 05 February 2015 03:12 PM

I saw one for £3300 the other day with ppp and done 71k

But they are getting less, saw one guy list 3 impreza's on ebay, they didn't sell, then he broke them all, Blob JDM twin scroll, I think other was a STI spec D hawk, and a type r track classic, all now stripped

Gear Head 05 February 2015 03:42 PM

Shouldn't be allowed! although good for current owners I guess.

jaygsi 06 February 2015 01:15 PM

I know its insane, who's buying all these parts, and think of the amount of parts that get skipped

jamie 1981 07 February 2015 10:39 AM

im still looking see a sti blob eye on ebay this morning in my city. see the car in tesco last night along with a blob eye wagon. still a number kicking about worcester.

jaygsi 07 February 2015 11:12 AM

I think Blobs are the most common Impreza on the road now days, Most the classics have been broken for parts, or rusted into a pile of dust, most hawks/hatches are getting there engine fixed/built, and bugeye owners are to embarrassed to drive them in the daytime.:D

south_scoob 07 February 2015 05:47 PM

I see very few blobs and Hatchs around See many more classic, hawks and bugs

jaygsi 08 February 2015 02:44 PM

Think it depends where you live, a lot of the low miles nicer classic's will be in the garage like mine.

Just done a search on gay bay and there's 67 classic impreza's and 98 blob, so not a massive amount difference and some off the blob's had sold in tile so old adds

I have just sold my 05 WRX PPP, 49K miles in VGC, FSH with some goodies.

Was going to put it up on Pistonheads for £6K but when I looked at the competition I upped the price by £500.

So I think they are creeping up nicely.

Dave Y 08 February 2015 08:59 PM

Its good news if they are.

jaygsi 08 February 2015 09:32 PM

seems a fair price

LeeG87 12 February 2015 03:29 PM

Sounds like i got a okay deal on my 2001 wrx wagon for £1600 need a little tidying but lots of history and full service history. serviced every 4/5k just need to do cambelt asap and replacing some bushes

poolio74 12 February 2015 07:26 PM

Bugeye's not included mate, sorry :thumb:

themaskedunit 12 February 2015 08:47 PM

i got my 01 bug in 01g with 115k on the clock and cambelt/clutch receipt for £2000. it was a part ex upgrade and they priced it to sell quick. a bit too quick imo. i got there, took it for a good look over and it was pretty tidy so i took his arm off and lo behold i think id struggling to find one half as good for sub 3k now. it owes me about 3k anyway now with mods and remap (285bhp) so i dont reckon ill be making a loss when i decide to sell up.

imprezas are very rare to see on the roads nowadays... i love the looks people give you with the lary noise and ott spoiler etc. i use mine as a daily aswell. bugeyes will be uber rare at some point, theres more being broken than sold intact :-(

Dirk Diggler 75 12 February 2015 08:51 PM

See a few blobs and bugs about where I live, havent seen a classic since I sold mine about 3 years ago ...

themaskedunit 12 February 2015 09:04 PM

i was originally looking for a facelift classic in silver/champagne but could i find one that was remotely local if AT ALL.... nope. then i spotted my current bug going cheap 50 miles away and had to have a look lol. ill still get a classic at some point as ive always wanted one of them over all other shapes. i owned one when i was younger and had to sell before i got it on the road due to finances, then the second classic i owned was a cheap buy but past its best so i sold it on.

i WILL get a mint classic one day ......
