Wheel Spacers on a Hawkeye..?
Hi Guys,
Thinking of putting Hub centric spacers on my Hawk STI to fill out the arches, I have standard suspension with Prodrive springs on that were fitted along with the PPP when the car was new. Any one currently got a Hawkeye STI with spacers on if so what size have you fitted (pic’s would be nice) I also don’t want to mess around with get my arches rolled Cheers in advance ;) |
Why not change the wheels? I'm not a fan of spacers, I had the same problem when mine had PFF wheels fitted there rears looked "in" the Arch.
|
I have considered new wheels, but funds will not allow at the moment so spacers are the only option
I do plan to get new wheels as my summer wheels but thats a far way off at the moment |
I'm currently on Rota Boost 17s x 8.5 with 3mm spacers from TPI. Was given them free when ordered wheels. I'll be honest I can see a difference. Gonna have to go at least 10mm I think to notice a difference.

I had the PFF wheels then Team dynamic wheels and I've just had these fitted 18x8.5 ET48 with no spacers or mods.

Looking good BBB3
Yea the 8.5 you don't want to go over 10mm if you require spacers on a 48 et 20mm on the stock rims 7.5 same effect /stance a little diff with been a 17" Both variations allow no arch work but depending on tyres & suspension set up you may experience the odd scrape Regards mic |
Thanks :)
|
BBB3,
Cheers pal thats the look I am after , fills the arches out just right.. Not into the "streching the tyre's over the wheel rim's look" :) Thanks Mic, So I think my best way forward untill I can afford a new set of wheels is 20mm spacers 20mm front and back ? Cheers for all your advice guys |
What wheels have you got know?
|
18" Prodrive PFF7's with 235/40/18" tyres
|
S3LDM. Yea , 20mm at 7.5
15mm at 8 10mm at 8.5 That is max , I have my stock rims on at mo ( winter wheels ) with the 20 mm running 235/45/17 & the arches are full , sure iv hit a pot hole & got a scrape , but 99.9 it's spot on . |
Cheers Mic,
Am I right in saying that the PFF7's are 7.5 ? I have put a level down from the arch to the floor (plumb) and measured into the tyre on the front and back, got 20mm on the rear and 15mm on the front This does not allow for the lip on the arch Are your standard wheels 7.5 ? If so I think I will get the 20mm spacers front & back Cheers |
Yes , stock STI rims are 7.5
I'll get a pic up tomorrow when it's light show you the stance ... I havnt the car with me now |
Cheers Mic
Your a star ;) |
How can I find out what width my PFF7's are
As I think mine are 18"x8 |

Your right the enkei are 8
Can't for the life think were my head was scratching , so yea that's 20mm on 8's then with no rubbing However putting the 20mm on the 8.5 doesn't work as you can see , I was sugesting 10mm but with the stock been confirmed at 8 that would put 15mm ok .again depending on tyre & suspension , but 10mm most def . http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/u...t/4C341267.jpg 20mm looks good at 8.5 , but major rubbing :( |
Nice wheels jazzy :D
|
Guys.. You have been very helpful indeed, thanks for the info
I measured last night to double check as well, 15mm will do the job nicely I think |
15mm is too much when someone sits on back seats, beleive me. 10m on original wheels is fine.
|
Well that's another thing , I don't have any rear seat in mine .
So given you have , 10mm is the safe option ... Incidentally lets get some prices & product range ( manufacturer) As I'm sure some are good & others not so . |
The only people that sit in the back of my car are my 5 year old twin daughters, they dont weigh much ;)
I have had prices from both H&R and Eibach 15mm spacers X 4 both around £200 delivered which I think is not bad |
Lee if you fancy new wheels sell them plus 200 maybe a new set
|
With the risk of rubbing is it really worth it though? I only say it because I have made mods in the past and found out the hard way I cannot abide by the negatives and switched back to stock parts. Do you think it will bug you every time it rubs or can you cope with it because £200 is a lot to bet for a slight visual difference. And there is of course the fact your car looks the nuts as it sits to be honest;)
|
I hear what your saying Ian, and cheers for the advice, but it's the only think that bugs me about the car, I have orders H&R 15mm spacers and I will see how I get on
It's the only visual change I plan on making on the car, as you know I like a nice clean standard looking car |
