Zuber 26 January 2015 11:10 PM

Sad in so many ways! I can just imagine what marques are hidden in that place never to be enjoyed again and all the people who lost everything...very sad

RESCUE MISSION

I am planning a rescue mission to retrieve some of those cars.

Kevmc76 26 January 2015 11:13 PM

wouldn't want to risk it, it looks like everyone didn't have much time to do anything.

Zuber 26 January 2015 11:14 PM

Yeah they will glow at night,, the police will no doubt have check points on all the roads in and out to make sure nothing leaves that place. I know they were doing checks at the ports for radiation on lots of stuff encluding vehicles being exported.

scoobyland 26 January 2015 11:16 PM

What would happen if I tried to retrieve those cars?

Zuber 26 January 2015 11:17 PM

You would be arrested for looting I guess, I'm sure if they could be moved safely and used they would not be there!

Kevmc76 26 January 2015 11:25 PM

You would probably be jailed for it knowing them.

I love this sort of stuff intriguing, scroll down at some of the images on here.

Whats your game plan out of curiosity?

scoobyland 27 January 2015 08:12 AM

To charge in the radiation zone in a special suit.

Gear Head 27 January 2015 04:39 PM

Wow. How big is the exclusion zone?

And I wonder if they received any compensation from the government.

AWG 28 January 2015 08:58 AM

They'll probably be in Pistonheads classifieds in the summer badged as Spec C RA's

M444GY 29 January 2015 07:44 PM

the shreksta 29 January 2015 07:46 PM

Wasn't there a thread on here regarding an escort cosworth found in japan that had been left under trees and somebody bought it to fix up

Has anyone seen the pictures of the ghost town famagusta in Cyprus? That's interesting. Capital of the island and has been empty since the 70s. It's a no go zone and can't even fly over it or go by in the sea

Been there and it's very creepy, almost like some sort of chemical weapon was used.

Would be interesting if it got reopened again.

The problem with famagusta is even though it's part of mainland Cyprus Turkey believe it belongs to them ... There are several look out towers were you can see a little ,

I had a deposit down and was searching the auction houses for a Type r untill i read about so many cars exported only to be rejected at ports and returned because of high radiation levels.

I went to the Six Flags amusement park in Georgia in 1991.

I've seen Youtube vids of people walking around the park, I vaguely remember bits of it. Scary.

They'll be in eBay in no time "one previous owner, who had the ability to stretch his arms longer than Mr Tickle. Radiation you say? No don't be silly him and this car are perfectly FINE".
But in a serious note, how sad. Not just the cars but the owners imagine sitting where you are right now and someone saying you have to leave, right now. Your home, your car, everything you know and possibly never come back. How very sad.
