GL or WRX?

Hi.. I've just bought my 1st ever subaru and am having a hell of a problem insuring it… it comes up as a 5 dr hatchback GL on all websites ..when in fact its a 4dr.
It is an Import manufactured date; as 94 Registered over here in 99 and on an L plate.
The log book states the same.(GL 5dr)I've spoken to the dvla ,they've said that in the translation of the Jap doc's things do get misinterpreted and to amend ,in pen ,and send it back to them.
All of the no's, i.e. VIN and engine etc indicate that it's a WRX .. any help please ??
Vin no. E-GC8 -016804
model.GC8B48P BJ
engine type. EJ20GDX1NE
TransmissionTZ102YB3AA
Many thanks

I had the on my first Impreza wrx, I got it super cheap about 7 years ago as was registered as gl, it was insanely fast. Contacted DVLA to say it was a WRX not a gl, they said just told me to amend, I did and got log book back with WRX

Then insured as WRX job done easy

This was never the case with imports, especially in 1999. It's chav scum that have picked up on the fact that quite a few are registered as GLs and insured them as such.

Mine is still registered as a GL, as it was when it first came in to the country in 2003.

It's never bothered me and has always been insured as a WRX. No need to get it re-classified, it's obvious what it is from the VIN.

hmm, i'd be interested on an insurance comapnies point of view on that, regged as one thing and insured as something else? sounds like somethign they would use to get out of payin gout.

For the sake of a letter to the dvla or what ever the process is why not get it sorted just in case?

What are you talking about?

When you give your reg number to the insurance they read back what they see the car is, you either agree to this or say no its a WRX.

if you had a accident/write off and they checked your car they would see it was a WRX and therefore your insurance would be cancelled and invalid and they wouldn't accept responsibility on damages or claims etc.

the only thing your paying for is that Camera on the police cars which make it show as insured.

technically your driving uninsured

WTF?

I take it you didn't read my post properly!

Try reading it again.

I doubt Gary would have an issue with it :) insurers don't care what the reg docs say, all they are interested in is what the car is in reality.
