Focus RS AWD - Reveal 1:30 today

Hi all

has anyone seen this yet

http://blog.caranddriver.com/watch-k...ford-focus-rs/

The all new focus RS AWD. Be very interesting to see how it looks and to see if the rumors of 325bhp are true. I've never really been a ford fan but this could sway me!

stevemoir 22 January 2015 03:29 PM

About time lol

They've dropped the 2.5 for a 2.3 would of thought the would of used the tried and tested 2.5 that's in the current focus rs

Steve

Tidgy 22 January 2015 03:29 PM

if it is awd could be an interesting car indeed

Volvo don't make 5 cyl petrol engines anymore so that's why probably..

har-vey 22 January 2015 03:41 PM

i believe its the same 2.3 that they are using in the new Mustangs

dpb 22 January 2015 03:42 PM

Probably be more successful pushing awd hatch box than subaru

Ford sold Volvo to the Chinese and they took there engines with them

ditchmyster 22 January 2015 03:47 PM

Don't see what the fuss is about, I'd be more interested if they went back to RWD.

RWD is so over rated. Modern AWD and even FWD cars are just as good and just as rewarding to drive.

Maybe so and part of the reason I drive Subarus, but in my mind an RS Ford was always a RWD and I'm sure they'd sell by the bucket load all over the world.

Yes, that's what I've read too.

Maybe they could do it for a Cosworth version! :D

Yeah but something with a £50k price tag like the Subaru CS400 they'd struggle to shift them in large numbers, need to go back to their roots, cheap and cheerful, tuneable engine at around 200/220bhp with potential for a bit more on stock internals and basic RWD with LSD for less than £20k and keep it simple with no fancy electronics, it's something that would seriously interest me and many others I suspect.

Too thirsty. When the likes of the Merc and Golf can do 30+ it just doesn't cut the mustard.

Lots of trouble usually serious. ;)

Do you really believe that or is it just to wind up the BMW owners on here? :wonder:

Shaun 22 January 2015 06:02 PM

I knew something like this would happen, as soon as I bought my A45!!!! :D

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out!

Shaun 22 January 2015 06:31 PM

Agreed, I'm sure it was Clarkson that said Vauxhalls are like buses - always full of strange people. :D

Shaun 22 January 2015 07:24 PM

Oh.. I'd agree about the Vauxhall part. Just not the Ford element. :D

Carnut 22 January 2015 07:28 PM

Could be my new favourite car.

No car is JUST 2wd, rwd or 4wd these days, they all have independent braking systems and elec this and elec that.
It is nice that rwd feel of the weight going backwards but I love the idiot proof AWD myself.
Let's just hope it has a manual option, as a daily the flappy paddles have it won but I only do a few miles a week and still like the extra challenge.

if it's not '2wd, rwd or 4wd'. How are they propelled? Because I can't recall ever having seeing a road legal jet car.

Whats independent braking got to do with drivetrain? So are they 1 wheel drive then?
Modern cars have made clearing ground quicker, and easier, you can't do that with the older cars.

Once you go dsg or simlar, There's no going back. That's how I thought.

john banks 22 January 2015 07:55 PM

Sounds exciting, could be the next great, affordable tuner car. Just hope the internals and transmissions are strong.

I think it will be RWD, it shares the same engine as the new Mustang, and knowing how cheap Ford are(keeping costs down), they will use the same set up as the Mustang(engine & running gear) but with the Focus shell.
