remap questions. walbro and 3 port

hi all
i recently ran out of fuel due to the gauge stoping working (dohhh!)

i now need to sort the sender out. obviously while im there i have the opportunity to murder 2 winged creatures with one large piece of granite.
should i fit a walbro 255?

current spec is:
2004 WRX
green panel filter
6kg flywheel
full decat with 3 inch downpipe

ill also do before getting it remapped:
TGV delete with a little porting on the intake
silicon main intake and y pipe hoses

so
what sort off BHP will this get me once remaped?
will i need a walbro 255 pump?
at what point do i need a 3 port solenoid?
is there any other recommended upgrades i should do. befor or after the remap or just in general.

meny thanks! josh

3 port isn't really needed
Td04 will see about 280

Go with an sti spec

Walbro 255 or swrd (£70)
550 pink injectors (£110)
Sti tmic (£150ish)
Vf35 (300ish)

Should see you to 330 and won't cost a bomb

Steve

joshnosh 13 January 2015 02:19 PM

330 is tempting
i wount go for that just yet but its a nice option on the cards

could i go for a td05 insted off the vf35
i only ask because td05 are in abundance are alot cheaper

because there a standard item on STI models?
lots off people break STIs for parts so the td05 is left over
people ditch the td05 from there STI when they upgrade for more power.

same with all factory fitted parts. usually a lot cheaper than after market

nope lol

some wrx (early ones) had TD05's.

VF35's, VF28's, VF29's etc are STI turbo's, just depends what you want to achieve.

TD05 is pretty old tech now, if your after a cheap upgrade for a TD04 then assuming fit is correct (there's two version's) they are ok.

Decent VF35 will be a good upgrade or if you willing to pay a bit more to get more then there is the usual SC36 etc

ok
thanks for the info
thats 2 years away yet and a fair amount off money

need to focus on 280ish atm

There are bargains to be had

Including an open source map you are probably looking at 900 quid. Excluding fitting of the parts

Probably 1300 all in

yeah. i cant justifi that at the moment and wont be able to for a year or two

so will i need a 225 for 280 bhp?

bludgod 13 January 2015 04:18 PM

check with the guys at scoobyworx as thats where I got my pump from for a very reasonable price.

as said already no need for a 3port just yet. If your going to get it mapped and go to the hassle of removing the TGV's then see if you can find a seller on here that will do you the STI manifold with the 550cc injectors already fitted - save me loads of hassle.

Then you can max the TD04 out without worrying about fuel and when the time comes pickup a VF or a TD05 (my ebay TD05 has been running 2 years now no hassles) along with a bigger intercoole to bump you into the 300's.

iv already bought a full wrx manifold to refurbish and remove the tgvs

only cost 40 quid :) going to paint it a nice blue colour :)

joshnosh 13 January 2015 04:30 PM

seems the swrd pumps used to be 50 quid (there was a group buy at 30 quid at one point!)

walbro are £70 and the swrd are £95

not sure which to go for. walbro are lengendery pumps but the SWRD ones have a good rep aswell. both seem to have 2 year warrenty but i think SWRD would be easier to get replaced

stevemoir 13 January 2015 04:31 PM

Uprated fuel pump is defo worth it as your going to fit that manifold you obviously have to disconnect the rails and Injectors that would be the time to. Ditch your 440s and stick in sti 550s :)

Steve

wount that make it run like ****e though till its remaped?
if might fit the manifold then it might take me a month before i get i mapped

im thinking it would be easier to swap injectors at the place im getting the remap if i ever did get to 330ish

i might never do that and then its a waste off money also.

i dont want to sound cheep but im 22 and this car cost me a lot just in maintenance stuff and other running costs. worth every penney but it certainly takes a fair amount off my spare cash away lol

there car already owns almost every car on the road bar the odd VXR
at 280 it will be faster than an STI. its not like im craving more power even at 240ish
saying that my cousins getting a golf R (300bhp quattro)
id quite like to beat that lol

stevemoir 13 January 2015 05:04 PM

280 ain't gonna beat an sti I wouldn't of thought

Best to do it in a oner get the manifold sorted and fit that and the injectors at the same time just before mapping

As removing the tgv will throw up an error code so will need to be disabled by the mapper or something

iv got a tractrix cable so i can disable the TGV myself

it should beat an standard STI. more horse power and less weight!

stevemoir 13 January 2015 06:26 PM

Well if you've got a tactrix cable purchase the vf35 sti tmic and Injectors

And there is a Base sti ppp map on this forum upload that onto the ecu for the time being

I know you have a Decat is that fitted yet if not defo worth uploading the ppp map

Our pumps have jumped in price for 2015 as we have changed supplier. Our pumps are now tested in the uk individually and serial numbered and are the best pumps on the market. The "colossus" pumps cost us more to buy in than we sold our old versions for but as we pride our products on quality and only want to offer the best I'm happy we made the change. And yes you won't have issues with warranties with us either :-)

bludgod 14 January 2015 12:37 PM

if you have an openport cable then you can easily adjust the map for the STI pink injectors - happy to help you out if you need a hand drop me a pm/email.
