My bug sti prodrive edition!

Was bored so i thought I'd do a project type thread to show the progression of my car..
So it starts like this, on the 1st of november I went to stafford from weston s mare (170 miles eachway) to collect this bug sti. In the advert on pistonheads it ticked all the boxes for me, recent rebuild by slowboy and a shed load of work by scoobyclinic.. Spec was as follows 2.1 stroker built by slow boy racing Semi closed deck block Mahle pistons Manley H section rods nitred v9 crank Cosworth head gaskets ACL race bearings throughout ARP head studs All new subaru gaskets AVCS heads fully over hauled Exedy uprated clutch ALcatek ecu anti lag an launch control anabled Sc 42 plus turbo 3 inch decatted exhaust Perrin inlet Pierburg 3 port Perrin 4 bar map sensor Walbro 400 fuel pump an controller JT innovations Toucan display Whiteline ALK Whiteline drop links F+R Rota grids 9.5x18 Private plate too (bonus) The car made 427bhp and 420ftlbs Attachment 70410 So took took it for a test drive and the car felt good! Handed over my money and drive the 170 miles home on half a tank!! Heres some pics of her Attachment 70411 Attachment 70412 Attachment 70411 Well the thoughts of mods didnt take long! I didnt feel comfortable running 2 bar with stock headers and up after speaking to a few people. So first thing i bought was a set of RCM headers and up pipe (yet to be fitted) After they turned up a couple of club mates were talking about going to enginetuner for mapping so we set a date 16/01/15 so that gave me a few months to do what i wanted to my car before mapping. Next on the list of mods was a fmic which i bought on ebay, nothing special but powder coated the pipework black and threw away the blue joiners and replaced with red ones. Also sprayed the core matte black.. Pics coming later After i was happy with the fmic I decided to buy a fuelab pressure regulator in red, now this was not part of the plan but also bought CDF parallel rails kit and asked them nicely to engrave them with the prodrive logo... Well impressed with the results Attachment 70414 Attachment 70415 Attachment 70416 Taking the inlet off was very daunting as im not the sharpest tool in the box when mechanics comes into it but i will have a go lol. Also had some red silicone hoses to fit, no time like the present.. Attachment 70417 Next job fit the rails and cut the braided fuel lines and fit AN fittings to the said pipework. Found it hard going to start with but once you do 1 or 2 its pretty simple. Attachment 70418 Attachment 70419 I made a bracket to mount my fpr where the pitch mount is as i kind of like the look of it there, had to later on move it to one side as the fmic pipework fouled it. Attachment 70420 Time to plum it all in Attachment 70421 Attachment 70422 Happydays fuel sysyem plumbed in and checked for leaks, no leaks!!!! Happy man here.. Few goodies i bought for bling lol Attachment 70423 Attachment 70424 Attachment 70425 Now the FMIC install! Attachment 70426 Attachment 70427 Attachment 70428 Attachment 70429 With induction kit fitted and fmic installed! Also added perrin cooling panel Attachment 70430 Well happy the car started straight away, set the fuel pressure 3 bar vac line off.. Bled the coolant system hence the paper towel in the pic around the header tank.. More to cone as I bought a lovely CDF billet catch can Im just waiting on silicone hose and fittings (post being xmas) Attachment 70431 Also i got rid of the rota grids as the car didnt drive very nice on them and tram lined alot, so now rocking a set of pro race 1.2 with nankang NS2R tyres Attachment 70432 Attachment 70433 I wil update as and when progress is made! I got to say I couldn't have done any of it without the help from my great club SOMERSET SCOOBYS and my best mates. Thanks guys and girls. Apologies in advance for poor spelling and grammar as its 3am and I'm on my iPhone lol I hope you like what I'm doing here.. |
look proper nice mate :) shame you sold the rotas they were nice...
question regarding the FPR, im running pretty much stock, appart from a hks intake, forge dump valve, and a nur spec r cat back... mate of mine is constantly at me to get mine mapped, he says i should get, a fuel pump, downpipe decat, an fpr and then get it mapped, but my question is do i need an FPR so early on? im running a 02 sti uk, sorry for the thread hi jack :) |
Very nice mate, another member of the prodrive bug here but in black. :thumb: very nice spec you have and I bet you'll see more horses when the manifold is fitted. Engine tuner are great.
|
Very nice mate some great progress already bet you can't wait for mapping!! hope to 2.1 mine in the future!

It looks brilliant mate.
This was one that me and the wife were thinking of going to look at when we saw it for sale but decided may be best to go for a standard example to get us used to them. I look forward to further updates :) |
Looks awesome, has the power too!
Good job! |
very tidy bug m8! love the look of the rotas but for handling you def need something smaller. looking to map mine soon once my rocker gaskets are re-done as they are still bloody leaking after fitting a new gasket kit and half moons. will keep an eye out for updates to your thread.

Thank you for all your comments. Makes the work worth while when other people like what you have done.

Thanks again for taking time to comment on my thread everyone.:) |
Nice scoob :thumb:
Prefer the look of it on the Rotas. Would a change of tyres of helped the tram lining? I know I've had various brands of tyre on my stock STi rims and the amount of tram lining differed from brand to brand. |

Nice bit of kit you got there mate.
I had grids on my old bug, looked the bollox but crap ride eh. Everytime i went round a roundabout it felt so unsteady, just couldnt rag it. Bet 427 bhp is awsome i thought 320 was quick. |
