angel1368 29 December 2014 10:20 PM

scare mongering matey

hodgy0_2 29 December 2014 10:35 PM

Maybe you would need help if you thought you had contact with the victim

angel1368 29 December 2014 10:37 PM

What so your first reaction would be to ring up auntie ( the press ) , really ??

ALi-B 29 December 2014 10:50 PM

Think I might give it a call....I've not been able to move any further than 20ft from the bed (Man Flu, can't breath etc..).

Probably get looked at quicker than it'll take to get an appointment at teh GP ;)

Seems like a reasonable way of publicising the issue and getting people to come forward

Ebola is quite a serious issue

Probably is if you have Ebola, but does it affect us?

daveyj 29 December 2014 11:50 PM

I'm surprised it took so long to get here......

yabbadoo4 29 December 2014 11:55 PM

its because of the unique way the bbc is funded.........

Sadly the little boy James, died shortly after this picture was taken

http://previous.presstv.ir/photo/201...mes-Fetzer.jpg

The people "carrying" him are presumably not wearing those suits for fun

I hear it is reasonably contagious, so I would imagine it may effect us

Pross 30 December 2014 12:33 AM

That picture was taken in the UK? Is that Terminal 6 or something?

One case in Glasgow is hardly the plot for Outbreak is it?

Lisawrx 30 December 2014 12:50 AM

Could be, if that one person has already infected other people here.

Carnut 30 December 2014 02:37 AM

The flip side of this would be scoobynet having a "go" because there's a outbreak of Ebola and nobody (including the bbc) did anything about it. :brickwall

b. dressed in the way they are?

Because its a highly contagious disease, but this is not relevant to the original post...?

We all know its very contagious, but considerably less in the developed world.

The BBC like all press just like to over dramatise everything these days, I'm sure there will be a helpline for those affected by the "snow" soon.

Blue by You 30 December 2014 09:06 AM

Probably because if they didn't offer such an essential (?) service somebody would be asking why they didn't. The BBC, like every other public service provider, is accountable to anyone who can be bothered to badger them for the slightest little thing.

Sure, how would you know whether you had been in contact/near an infected person

dpb 30 December 2014 09:36 AM

if you knew the person would you not be aware all ready of the possiblities

PaulC72 30 December 2014 09:51 AM

Maybe they are trying to help track the other people on the plane down, the power of the media is good for reaching most places - if it finds the people on the plane it may just help stop it spreading to England and elsewhere.

It can only be a good thing really

hodgy0_2 30 December 2014 09:51 AM

but you don't necessarily "know" everyone you have daily contact with

People who are infected with Ebola don't walk around with a sign on

ChrisB 30 December 2014 10:06 AM

I can't see anything on this page about a BBC helpline?

A telephone helpline has been set up for anyone who was on the BA 1478 flight which left Heathrow Airport on Sunday evening. The number is 08000 858531.
Telegraph:

“Customers who flew from London Heathrow to Glasgow on BA1478 which departed at 2100 on Sunday December 28 and have concerns should contact the special number 08000 858531 set up by the Scottish Government.

PaulC72 30 December 2014 01:27 PM

Any publicity for this is a good thing, before you know it 1 infected person could infect a few on a plane, they go home and infect others and so on, it needs to be nipped in the bud early to avoid a possible incident escalating and everyone turning into zombies.... :)

not according to the idiots who post here

but thank god most are only responsible for stacking shelves - not public safety and disease control

You don't think ALL of those plane passengers would have been notified before auntie started with the online counselling. ??

but it is not just the plane passengers from Africa- she flew into Heathrow, but was admitted to a hospital in Glasgow

she did not get there by tele-transportation, - she made her own way home

maybe before she arrived home she went to the local supermarket, maybe she went to see Glasgow Rangers - who the fvck knows

the point is, it is a contagious disease, that is very dangerous if caught - why be outraged when a public service broadcaster reports it and presents a help/information line

Yeah, on reflection that was probably a mistake, she would have only come into contact with a dozen or so

And they would already be sweaty with a vacant look about them
