Help- alarm sounds when try to charge battery.

Bugeye wrx.

I had a phone call off the missus last week telling me to get home as the alarm was going off for no reason. Luckily it had stopped pretty quickly on its own.

I went to start car but the battery was flat.

The car does drain the battery regular as it only get driven once every couple of weeks.

So this time the alarm is sounding as soon the charger is connected and wont silence. Ive tried disconnecting the battery leads and charging battery disconnected but my charger is saying the battery is already fully charged. There were no lights lit etc on dash when key is turned in ignition.

We have guests arriving tomorrow for Christmas and were meant to use the subie but not looking likely.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds as if the battery is dodgy. Get it checked and replace.

Could also be a charger fault or use - some of the intellichargers will not charge a fully discharged battery

I had alarm going off issues with mine a few weeks ago - i knew the battery was failing as its mentioned in the recent subaru service history so wasnt surprised

Symptoms were battery flat unable to start car and alarm going off - as soon as i connected charger the alarm was going off again so disconnected battery and was ok that way

Put a voltmeter on the battery for a start

Are you using an aldi intellicharger by any chance ?

I just bought a new battery for mine thru a mates garage for £40 and all sorted - i didnt like to leave mine out on an iffy battery tbh so for me was an easy and obvious choice

If when checked your battery is showing 14.4 volts or thereabouts and you still have no dash lights etc i would be checking fusible links and main fuses etc for a blown item but guessing its going to be the battery
