Aching down the left arm.
 

I know, i know, go see the dosctor.........which i will.

However, for quite a long time, maybe a year or so, i have this ache down the left arm. Not always, but quite often.

Any thoughts.

If exertional see your Dr tomorrow. Otherwise considering incomplete information and the internet, see them routinely.

Exertional. Do you mean when you exercise, or exert yourself. No, the opposite. Its when i do nothing. When i go running i dont feel it.

It could be nerve related. I used to get a horrible pain in my right arm radiating in to the back of the shoulder when I was using the computer mouse. It was that position that caused it, I got a laptop and avoided using the mouse. My guess was the position irritated the nerve. I've not had it since.

I always find aches and pains can usually be traced back to some way you are sleeping or sitting in a chair for long periods? Back track on things like these things before you go worrying about strokes and stuff :D

Is it like a shooting/stabbing pain, sounds like frozen shoulder/bursitis which i've had and it takes months to sort if not longer.

Get stocking up on anything anti inflammatory, mag oil spray is good. Also don't sleep on your side.

Never had pain down the arms.....thought that was heart attack / stroke symptoms :eek:

I get it in both fecking legs most nights though.....that bad I can't sleep :(

Flushed with qualified medical people though Scoobynet undoubtedly is, your best course of action is to see your doctor and put your mind at rest. Get it done :thumb:

Go wait in the doctors surgery until your seen, or go to hospital.

You can't possibly be queuing for more than 4 hrs.....

We are spending quite a lot of time seeing people in the busiest few days before Xmas with twice the usual demand because they've decided now is the time to reveal something that has been going on for many months. They are crowding out the acute problems like pneumonias, tachycardias, TIAs, heart failure, bacterial infections etc. From the comments above I can see why. That is why I gave the advice I did in post #2, but if I'm getting all this, the original poster's GP might want just another bit more inappropriate "emergency" demand too.

I hope he didn't take my suggestion seriously !!

I'm just grumpy because half my doctors are off sick and I seem to be sicker than half the patients who insist on bringing their viral rubbish into me.

A surprising response from a GP, even one who is over worked and cheesed off? Most patients don't know they have 'viral rubbish', that's why they come to see you. However I am also aware that doctors do get a lot of total dicks in their surgeries too! But perhaps the tv ad, that has a GP telling us: 'We don't care how you tell, just tell us', should be changed to: 'We don't care what you've got, just keep it to yourself!'

My response was very mild compared to the difficulties in surgeries over the last week caused by increased demand due to consumerism which the NHS simply isn't funded for and lack of ability to self care. Most of them absolutely do know it is viral, their opening gambit is, "I just wanted to check because it is Christmas."

There should be a very clear narrative in the press about what is and is not appropriate use of the NHS. It is imploding due to misuse. Even just a £5 fee would make about half the present demand appropriately disappear. Take it off taxes. Since car insurance won't cover you when drunk, neither should the NHS, you should receive the full bill for your treatment. That would sort A/E out in one fell swoop.

Maybe a small fine, on exit, if the person is found to have a common Cold :)

I would quite happily pay a few quid per doctor visit if that meant I could be seen quickly and have quality time with a doctor that wasn't frazzled to the bone.

Might stop all the time wasters clogging up the system :thumb:

I spend £130 per month on BUPA and it's a shame I couldn't extend it to cover a private GP service that wasn't £100 per visit.

I happily pay £10 to visit the doctor. I'd also like the chance to book a slot online, and they should also introduce a charge for people who dont make appointments.

However, politics means none of this will happen.
