Depends how much its going for but the only way to make sure its real is to buy from a trusted seller. That's why I went for a Forge item in the end :thumb:

How much? If it's sub £150 and new its bound to be fake. The absolute cheapest you can get a real one for is £140 from a specific Japan based website. Then you have to pay shipping and duty. Most UK retailers charge £250-300 for them. If it's cheap it will either be in crap condition and potentially leak or it will be a fake. Don't forget the china copiers will no doubt address the differences and make better fakes.

A lot of people bad mouth these valves because of their experiences with fakes. I have an SSVQ2 and it's been fine for over six years. Took it apart last year and found the inside was good as new. No rust or wear. Copies last five minutes and leak causing running problems. It's actually quite a complex fine tolerance bit of kit inside.
