changing vehicle and insurers, will i lose no claims bonus?

I've been getting insurance quotes on a few cars from compare the market and for one of the cars, my current insurance company is coming up with a price about £200 more than some other companies.
My question is, if i change companies mid term, will i lose my n/c bonus and also get such a poor refund,it won't be worth it?

you won't lose the NCB, you just won't get the additional one for the year that you're in. You'll also get bugger all back - normally get stung with an outrageous admin fee. This happened with me recently when I changed, but the insurer I was with wanted an extra £800 for the year, I shopped around and got it for £250 for a full year, it was well worth it

Its like they know they've got you by the balls lol which they sort of have!
I started my policy in june for the car i have now, which cost £330 they now want £575 for this other car!
Other companies are quoting me around £330 on the new car,my company should be the same! Its like they're saying, give us £200 more, otherwise you have to mess about changing companies, losing n/c bonus and a big admin fee if you don't!

I've just had the same thing with A plan. £430 for the scooby, gone to a Focus St and they wanted an extra £36. Aviva £197 for the year.

Did you change and lose fees?

Went with Aviva and have to cancel A plan. Lost this years no claims but I can live with that.

How long did you have left on insurance when you cancelled and did you get any money back

Sy5 12 December 2014 05:30 PM

It would of been due on Feb 19th and no, no Money back mate. Maybe I could of paid the extra and changed insurers in Feb to keep the no claims but, at the time I just needed the Focus insured with no hassle.

I suppose if it was recent you changed, then you only lost a bit of money because there wasn't long left till feb but on other hand you nearly gained another nc bonus. shame that! I've got till june so i suppose losing the nc bonus at this stage isn't too much a loss but i hope the 7 months remaining offers a reasonable refund pro rata without too much admin fees

Give them a ring, they might change it but I wouldn't like to say if you'd get a part refund or not.

Can i ask what you think of the st? Have you heard about the liner issues and has it bothered you?

Had similar with Kieth Michaels, couldnt transfer the policy, and they wanted £250 more than Admiral, so i had to cancel One month before the year was up, so lost the entire years no claims.

Its not on really,is it?
They definitely know people would rather pay more to stay with company, than to change and lose n/c bonus and admin costs!
How can approx 10 other companies quote me about the same price that i pay on this car and the one im with want £200+ more!?
I bet next year their quote would be less, probably the same as i pay now..
