Vote for your favourite courier

Following on from Zak's thread

Just thought i'd list few couriers up, see which ones people prefer

jaygsi 10 December 2014 03:48 PM

You can choose more than one courier by the way

BLU 10 December 2014 03:53 PM

Its all down to the size and weight who I choose! I clicked on the 4 most reliable firms I use.

fat-thomas 10 December 2014 04:37 PM

i have to say despite its crap reputation i have sent over 60 things using hermes without an issue so far.
but the main reason i use them is i can drop parcels off at the local shop so its very convinient

gazney101 10 December 2014 04:45 PM

+1 for hermes

Cannon Fodder 10 December 2014 05:24 PM

UPS or Fedex, I have never had one problem with either of them - including plenty of items from the USA which has arrived quicker than many deliveries from within the UK carried by the likes of Parcelforce.

If I am ordering online then I will always specify UPS or Fedex wherever possible, they give a great service and even though more expensive than the competition the extra cost is worth it.

jaygsi 10 December 2014 05:24 PM

Same here sent loads with them no problems think only lost one thing and got refund

M and M Direct uses Hermes and they failed on 3 separate occassions (months apart) to be able to find the biggest building on the fricking industrial estate where I work! :wonder:
Utterly useless and the courier was unreachable - in the end, they had to return it and send it out via TNT who promptly delivered it without fuss, and Hermes no longer deliver for them in that area.

I've had the same issues with Yodel; also booked a pickup via Yodel and they just failed to turn up, with no valid excuse other than just incompetence and poor service.

Royal Mail and Parcel Force are generally pretty good - just too damn expensive nowadays. I sent a 3 bolt up pipe recorded and it cost about £10 which is just dalylight robbery IMHO.

Royal Mail

Norman Dog 10 December 2014 07:01 PM

The only one out of that list I've had problems with are CityLink, stupid ba$tards sent my tyres (needed for MOT) to the wrong part of the country.

As for the international couriers we use at work, DHL have the best tracking system and are more reliable then FedEx and TNT who we also use.

:)

It is not specifically Subaru related, so it has been moved to NSR (Non Scooby Related). It's not like it was deleted, and I even kindly left in a redirect, so people knew it was still here (just moved) and so anyone posting/looking in SN general for the next day, would see the title, and if interested, can click the thread title, and be straight on it, just as if it were still in the same place.

Hardly something suspicious going on. :brickwall

UPS and DPD have always been spot on whenever ive had a parcel or sent one, the DPD 1 hour notification is a great idea, basically you receive a text or mail on the morning of the delivery and they give you a 1 hour window when it will be delivered, as an example between 12pm - 13-00pm. It saves you waiting in, you can just be there when its due to be delivered.

This isn't a bad thread, just interesting to know which courier is the most reliable , as there's some really poor couriers out.

My mate just used collect+ and had really poor service, saying that he sent an item worth £50, and didn't realise it was insured to £15. It went missing.

Well looks like DPD took the lead. Although i really do recommend Hermes from as little as £2.95 collected from your house, and free cover upto £50 you can't go wrong.

Boro 17 December 2014 05:13 PM

DPD for us as receivers have been truly shocking! So much so, that I now ask suppliers which courier they use and if they say DPD, I ask if there is an alternative, if not, I'll arrange collection myself.

Basically, their drivers are paid per delivery and the one on our route doesn't think anything of working until 11pm which is pretty much useless if your business is waiting for a next day delivery and closes during normal business hours.

It then goes back out for delivery the next day with potentially the same problem.

Definitely not good for us!

Lets just say XDP Express WONT be getting my vote.
Got a text on Monday to say my parcel will be delivered between 0925 and 1225 that day.
Great. I will wait for parcel then do everything I need to do in the afternoon...
1315. I ask them where my parcel is. "Oh its on his second run it wont be with you for a least an hour."
Great...Not...
It finally arrived at gone 1800 hours..
To say I was pi**ed off is an understatement.!!! Wan*ers at XPD Express.....

On a positive note there are several good ones who will phone 30 mins before they arrive which is a great idea and most helpful.!!! To those ...keep up the good work.
